Mom at Bush ranch decries spectacle (I guess she didn't say all those things she said)

CRAWFORD, Texas – Bothered by what she laments as mounting "distractions," Cindy Sheehan sought Monday to refocus her peace vigil near President Bush's ranch on her central anti-war message.

Since she "came out here and sat down on a lawn chair" 10 days ago, Ms. Sheehan said, the situation has "got out of hand and just turned into a media circus."

For instance, she cited calls for the president's impeachment as "another distraction off of our original cause."

On Sunday, she faced reports that she was not paying her federal income taxes. "They killed my son in an illegal and immoral war," she told a reporter who asked, "and I don't feel like I owe them anything."

And she's been besieged not only by burgeoning numbers of her own supporters, with all sorts of agendas of their own, but also by counterdemonstrators over the weekend – and on Sunday by an angry neighbor who fired a shotgun into the air near her camp.

"The media attention has been fabulous," she said Monday at a news conference to introduce other military families opposing the war in Iraq. "We have finally gotten this war back on the front page and back in the headline news where it belongs."

Still, she said, she had stayed awake all night reviewing recent events and wishes now to get back to the basics of her vigil – and her demand to meet with the president.

"I don't want to be distracted," she said. "Our message is to bring the troops home."

........She and other families met with the president at Fort Lewis, Wash., a few months after her son died. But she has been demanding a second meeting to confront Mr. Bush on the war.

Where will Cindy be in five years and what will she be doing?

Hey Cindy, your 15 minutes of fame is at about 13 minutes. Be sure and fully enjoy what's left. And above all, remember, you're irrelevant!

I actually feel sorry for this woman, if indeed she is as I suspect, confused, hurt, disoriented, and being manipulated by those who will use her as long and hard as they can.

I thought so, at first. But I have come to believe that she is a willing partner in this travesty. She is not being manipulated, at all. This seamless "repackaging of the message" is proof of that. People who are confused, hurt, disoriented and being manipulated are not able to turn it on an off like a lightswitch based on the latest polling data from New Hampshire.

Up until this morning, she fell into my "useful idiot" catagory (and, man, does that cover a lot of ground). After this latest repackaging, she falls into my "hostile" catagory.

Not only pointless, but can you imagine having children of the President serving in a dangerous war zone, where hostage taking and threats on video with the hostages begging for their lives, and the chopping off of heads, is the order of the day???

Give me a freakin' break, all you loons (not you, jp3) who say the President's daughters should be in Iraq.

Even if we had a draft, or even if they wanted to volunteer, that is the single most STUPID thought that anyone has ever voiced, to my knowledge. Why do you think they have Secret Service protection, you loons? Right here in America they have to be protected from harm, especially from kidnapping.

So they should go to IRAQ?????

What on earth have these loons done to themselves to so fry their brains?

You know, until now I had considered the "why isn't Jenna in Iraq" line to be just irrelevant. Thank you for explaining to me why it is actively stupid.

Did you see how she responed to the reporters question of , Why isn't it enough that the president met with you once?

Her response was,(paraphrasing)I have answered that question many times, I suggest you look up other interviews I have done.

This woman is starting to believe her own PR.

That's a really good point. Anti-semitism seems to be a defining characteristic of most truly evil movements of the twentieth and twenty first centuries. Communism, Nazism, ans Isalmofascism are all good examples.

She knowing and intentionally gave aid and comfort to those who murdered 3,000 Americans and who were murdering out troops long before the same people murdered her son. That makes her an accomplice in her son's murder. Now she tries to blame Bush, who's doing his best to root out and eliminate the subhuman murderers. Contemptible.

You are right. Only now it is supposedly a bit more subtle. I see right through it, but maybe some don't. You say bad things against Israel, and somehow that is not supposed to qualify as anti-Semitic. Oh no, you are just sympathetic to the poor little Palestinians against the big bad Israel, and that gets you off the anti-Semitic hook, in the minds of some. Not me. Dig a little deeper, and you have got the Palestinians as the same fascists who in World War II tried to exterminate the Jews from this earth.

her son is probably proud to see her standing in front of a bus displaying the flag upside down. I bet he's glad he dedicated his life to protect everything that that flag stands for, only to see his mother glorify its defacement, and totally dishonor his memory in the process.

If it weren't for the "propaganda tool of the standing government", no one would know who you were....if only.

noting how Palestinians have been allowed less and less land over the past 60 years.

That's what happens when you keep losing wars you start.

Husband divorced her. I would have too. Of course, the media said it was over the stress of Casey. Horse droppings, Sheehan is a leftist twit and hubby finally saw the light.
