"Today is: True Love Forever Day"

Well, at least I mentioned Love in this...

“There Are 10 Kinds Of People”

My computer argued with me, about my counting way,
“Something must be this or that. There’s no such thing as gray!”
I saw it had a point, of course. I try to be discrete.
But it was somewhat young to know that things can’t be that neat!

I know some things can turn you on, and others leave you cold,
But there is stuff to know, about which you’re not told,
And rounding errors do occur, we have to guess a lot.

The computer didn’t see it. “Something is, or it is not!”

Well, what is your opinion, then, of Love, and Death, and War?
Can you define the right of things, or what we’re fighting for?

“It may be that you’re right. I could be somewhat out of touch,
But anything I do not know, can not amount to much!”

FOR JOKE DAY--

Two Cajun hunters from Louisiana got a pilot to fly them to Canada to
hunt moose. They bagged six. As they started loading the plane for the
return trip, the pilot said the plane could take only four moose.

The two Cajuns objected strongly. "Last year we shot us six of dem
mooses and da pilot let us put dem all on board; and he had da same
plane as yours."

Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and all six were loaded. However, even with
full power, the little plane couldn't handle the load and went down a
few moments after take-off.

Climbing out of the wreck, Boudreaux asked Thibodeaux, "Any idea where
we at?"

"Yaaah... I tink we pretty close to where we crashed last year."

Today Is [also] National Airborne Day

I've been a member of many, many great organizations. But none am I prouder to have served than with the Airborne. It is amazing to work with such motivated people - and you have to be highly motivated to throw yourself out of a perfectly good airplane (all jokes about military aircraft aside). -- Blackfive, http://www.blackfive.net/main/

So, here's to you, Airborne:

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

Americans live in freedom because of the extraordinary bravery, sacrifice, and dedication to duty of the members of our Armed Forces. From the first official Army parachute jump 65 years ago, our country's Airborne troops have played a crucial role in the defense of our Nation and our liberty. On National Airborne Day, we pay special tribute to these courageous soldiers who served with honor and integrity.

On August 16, 1940, the successful first jump of the Army Parachute Test Platoon laid the foundation for a new and innovative method of combat that helped contribute to an Allied victory in World War II. These bold pioneers answered the call of duty and set an example for future generations to follow. Since the designation of the Army's first Airborne division, the 82nd Airborne, on August 15, 1942, our Airborne troops have performed with valor. The brave men and women of our Airborne forces have worked to defeat tyranny, advance the cause of liberty, and build a safer world.

Today a new generation of Airborne forces is fighting a war against an enemy that threatens the peace and stability of the world. At this critical time, Airborne forces of the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force are continuing the noble tradition of the first sky soldiers. Americans are grateful for the service of our Airborne forces and all our troops, and we are inspired by the strength and sacrifice of our military members and their families.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim August 16, 2005, as National Airborne Day. I encourage all Americans to honor those who have served in the Airborne, and I also call upon all citizens to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of August, in the year of our Lord two thousand five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirtieth.

GEORGE W. BUSH

True Love Forever Day

Oh, I must ping my husband to this. He has been my "true love" for over 38 years! I guess that many years counts as "forever". :-)

And, this should count for dinner out or flowers or somethin' to celebrate this special day. LOL. ;-)

Thanks for posting the holidays for us, tulip.
