JEANINE PIRRO'S gaffe- marred announcement and her emphasis on liberal social positions has led to new unrest in some quarters of the state GOP, party insiders said yesterday. "A lot of people were unhappy with her boatload of mistakes, and they're starting to take another look at Ed Cox as a result," said a prominent Republican lawmaker, referring to the son-in-law of former President Richard Nixon who hopes to challenge Pirro in the GOP primary for the right to run against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In the same story: William Weld, ex RINO governor of Taxachusetts, is likely to run for governor in NY. What's in the water in NY?
Hay I'll run, oh wait I don't live in New York...oh wait, it doesn't matter.
My mother grew up in Schenectady. Does that mean I can run, too?
It's not the water, it's that there are only two significant political parties in NY; the Democrats and the Other Democrats.
Thing is, she reflects the views of most NYers.
Whether we agree with it or not, the true challenge is to change the way people look at issues so that they see things our way.
Pirro policywise is a good fit for NY state. I should know, I lived there for 1/3 of a century.
Exactly. They should be happy to get someone who CALLS themselves a Republican in New York.
Cox will not even get 30% of the vote if he is the nominee. why bother with him, we might as well fight it out with someone who can at least make a race of it.
"My mother grew up in Schenectady. Does that mean I can run, too?"
I'm sorry, but no. In order for you to be Senator from New York she would have had to grow up in Illinois. Who knew?
Of course it would also help if you used to be first lady of the United States. Ah, were you?
I lived on Long Island for a year and a half when I was 3 and 4...I am going to run!!!
:)
Hate to say it. You are just not going to get a true conservative out of New York.
can you imagine how "Nixon's son-in-law" would go over. just the term "Nixon" associated with the campaign, Nixon must have a favorable rating of 10% in NY state, he has been so demonized by the media for the last 30 years.
Let me put it this way. If this Pirro can actually defeat Hillary next year, that means there is no Hillary 08 campaign, to be honest, take what you can get, I think this is one of those rare cases where, getting out the person because of who they are is more important than anything ideological.
defeat? even if Pirro losses, but gets within 6-7%, that hurts Hillary.
She's somewhat hot, isn't she?
Pirro may not be the answer, but Cox certainly isn't. Let's wait and see who else shows up.
