Antiwar protester Cindy Sheehan who is camped in Crawford, Texas demanding a meeting with President Bush over the death of son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, in combat in Iraq has surrounded herself with groups that have endorsed the so-called Iraqi resistance.
Last June, groups opposed to the American-led war to depose the regime of Saddam Hussein gathered in Istanbul to hear testimony before a 'jury of conscience' on charges of war crimes and violations of international law by the United States.
Endorsers of the statement issued by the World Tribunal on Iraq at the end of the conference include Code Pink Women for Peace, United for Peace and Justice and Veterans for Peace; while not a named endorser, Tim Goodrich, co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War , testified before the tribunal against his country.
Representatives of these four groups have been at Sheehan's side since she arrived in Crawford August 5.
The lengthy statement issued by the tribunal contains several statements legitimizing the so-called Iraqi Resistance. One reads, "It is the brutality of the occupation that has provoked a strong armed resistance and certain acts of desperation. By the principles embodied in the UN Charter and in international law, the popular national resistance to the occupation is legitimate and justified. It deserves the support of people everywhere who care for justice and freedom."
Another statement by the tribunal denounces the January election in Iraq and the new constitution being constructed by the Iraqi parliament:"Any law or institution created under the aegis of occupation is devoid of both legal and moral authority. The recently concluded election, the Constituent Assembly, the current government, and the drafting committee for the Constitution are therefore all illegitimate."
Code Pink Women for Peace, United for Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War, despite what they tell the media in Crawford, are not peace groups. They have taken sides against America and stand with the terrorists killing American soldiers in Iraq. Cindy Sheehan, grieving mother of a fallen G.I., stands with those who stand with our enemies.
Chris .. are you thinking of running for Congress
Cindy .. No, not this time ..
Another Osama Mama?
1st Cav is doing a Division wide memorial similar to the one the 4th ID has on post. They have raised over $200,000 with a goal of $250,000. I'll see if I can find a link.

1st Cavalry memorial donations near goal
By Debbie Stevenson
Fort Hood Herald
Dear readers,
In mid-July, the 1st Cavalry Division needed $107,500 to realize its goal of building a lasting tribute to the soldiers it lost during the First Team's year in Baghdad.
At least 75 percent of the planned memorial's $250,000 price tag needed to be raised before construction could begin. And it needed to be in the hands of the 1st Cavalry Division Association before Aug. 1.
The goal was met.
Area residents, civic groups and business leaders joined other division supporters from across the country and rose to the challenge.
As of Monday, the association, which is spearheading the effort, reported being in receipt of $219,363. That is $76,863 in a little more than two weeks.
Operation Iraqi Freedom II Memorial Park eventually will be housed on the grounds of division headquarters. The centerpiece already is unveiled: a bronze statue of two military policemen tending to an injured Iraqi child.
During its year in Baghdad, the division itself lost 91 of its Fort Hood-based soldiers. Its Task Force Baghdad lost 170. The statue will be surrounded by a granite wall bearing the names of the fallen.
The granite alone was 75 percent of the memorial park's cost. Still more will be needed for other materials, costs and maintenance.
So, until the $250,000 is met, we will keep reporting the amount raised on Saturdays in the Killeen Daily Herald and Wednesdays in the Fort Hood Herald.
I doubt the updates will continue for long. The pace of contributions is something all supporters of the 1st Cavalry can be proud of.
Just Friday, the Killeen-Heights Rotary Club pledged $1,000 after listening to a speech from Maj. Gen. Peter Chiarelli, the division's commander, about some of the troops' triumphs in Iraq. Another $2,500 is on its way from the Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of the United States Army.
Almost daily, Dennis Webster, the association's executive director, reports new contributions. Mail deliveries on Saturday and Monday brought $500 from Freedom Stores Inc. of Midland Park, N.J.; $500 from the Furniture Zone in Killeen; and $200 from Mel's in Copperas Cove. Combined with money from individual donors, the amount received by the association was $2,175.
With just $30,637 left to be raised, we must not become complacent.
On the cover of the July 20 edition of the Fort Hood Herald, I challenged each of us who call the Fort Hood area home to send in $1 for each person in our households. That was when we needed more than $107,000.
Now, with just a mere third of the total left, if you have not done so already, please find it in your hearts to offer a small token to remember those who have sacrificed so much.
Remember, they were our neighbors, our battle buddies, friends, mentors and leaders. They deserve nothing less.
On the day the memorial is unveiled, the families of the 1st Cavalry's heroes can perhaps find some comfort in the knowledge that so many stepped up to preserve the memory of their immense sacrifice.
Tax-deductible donations can be sent to the 1st Cavalry Division Association Museum Foundation, 302 N. Main St., Copperas Cove, TX 76522-1703. Indicate the donation is for the 1st Cavalry Memorial. The Museum Foundation tax identification number is: 91-2197014.

Thank you for the information...centexan
SS---here is some information. I guess this is for all of the 1st Cav soldiers..not just Casey Sheehan...
Wonder if his mother has contributed to it?
She also has the support of the Nazi David Duke, according to his website.
She was caught in an out and out lie on CNN this evening. See this post;

To All the FReepers who wish they could have been in Crawford
to support President Bush and the Troops.
You do not have to be in Texas to show support for the Troops.
Visit your local military base today and at least once a week.
Or a military or veteran hospital.
Learn to play offense, not defense,
and quit giving free publicity to those who mock our troops.
Spineless US Senate would rather protect Hanoi Kerry
than deal with the anti war crowd.
Anyone who thinks Hanoi Kerry isn't behind the anti war crowd needs to get a clue.
It's time to support our troops and ignore the jelly fish in the US Senate!
There is no need to impeach Hanoi Kerry from the US Senate
He is there illegally!
WAKEUP AMERICA!
For those who "forgot" what Hanoi Kerry
did in the past read on and learn the truth.
Hanoi Kerry was still a USNR officer while he:
gave false hearsay testimony to Congress
negotiated with the enemy
helped the US lose a war
abetted in the deaths of millions
created a hostile environment for all servicemen
Why is Kerry still in the US Senate?
This is in violation of
U.S. Constitution Amendment 14 Sec 3

And the FBI has proof of his treason.

BINGO!
I have friend who are against the war. But they are against all war. I can understand their thinking. War is hell.
But these clowns who are against the Iraq War only sicken me. It makes no sense how they can proclaim they support the troops at the same time.

This is a posting about her support from Duke. His website, to which this links, has the full text of his endorsement of her. Quite vile, but appropriate. Birds of a feather.
Is Code-Pinko a 501c3?
Likely worse, given her supporters. Show me who your friends are and I'll show you who you are.
LOL, that reminds me of the episode of MASH when Harry Morgan played General Steel and said "But now first a number, you know, a musical number"
Oh good lord...
