A Mother and the President
Time Magazine ^ | August 15, 2005 | Amanda Ripley

Posted on 08/15/2005 12:54:32 PM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

A woman lost her son in Iraq and won't leave George W. Bush alone until he sees her. Who is she, and why is she stirring such emotion?

Cindy Sheehan, 48, is not a natural-born revolutionary. She speaks in a high, almost childlike voice. She says like as often as any teenager, as in, "This whole thing was like so freaking spur of the moment." When her supporters gather to discuss strategy, Sheehan is not to be found in the circle of beach chairs; she is 50 yards up the road, doing yet another interview, hugging yet another stranger. But here she is, the mother of Casey, 24, who died in Iraq last year, and now the central character in the strange, swirling protest she initiated two miles down the road from President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Sheehan is unflinching about why she's here. She says George W. Bush killed her son. She demands that U.S. troops come home now...

A woman lost her son in Iraq and won't leave George W. Bush alone until he sees her.AGAIN.

she is, the mother of Casey, 24, who died was killed by terrorists in Iraq last year

She says George W. Bush killed her son

She full of it. Terrorists, most likely not even Iraqis, killed her son, who was doing his duty, and going beyond it to try and save other soldiers. He is a hero, she's a bitter old lady being exploited by extremely anti American groups and forces.

Oh, of course the Bush family understands.

This is pure trash to harass President Bush.

We have a president of character, strength, and honor and the best they can do is demean him at every chance.

The media in doing so, demeans the country and our war purposes playing into the goals of the terrorists.

But at a time when 56% of the respondents in a CNN poll say they think the war is going poorly,

Thanks to TimeWarnerCNNAOL, which tells them that is what is happening. We know that at best they only tell the part of the story that fits their 60s anti war radical agenda. Sometimes they just plain lie.

A Japanese peace-activist group donated money for Porta Potties.

Thereby starting the "War of the Porta Potties". Yet another sneak attack.

George Bush is defending this country from terrorists who attacked us on 911.

Never heard that woman squawking because we were attacked.

I am losing all patience with her and feel it is time to just let her rant and rave all she wants - I will not be listening to any of the news about her.

She can just find out that just because she is unhappy, it does not mean she gets to forego taxes and to tell the American president how he is to run the country.

Don't think she was elected for anything. So, she needs to be told to go home, we have had enough of her ranting. She will not be determining how this war is handled no matter how much she stomps her feet.

The last paragraph is chilling

In 1965 a group of just 25 antiwar protesters demonstrated outside President Lyndon Johnson's Texas ranch. Within a few years, the handful had turned into a movement.

Lot's different now though. LBJ was a wuss, George Bush is not. The anti war movement already exists now, as it did then, but not in the same form. (the original Vietnam anti war movement was rife with old line communists)

But most importantly, the Internet and talk radio did not exist then. There were only 3 TV networks. And most importantly of all, their was no Free Republic.

What makes her so special that the media are tripping over themselves to get to her

They and the fellow travelers who agree with them are using her for their ends. She's not special, just easily swayed.

Cindy Sheehan, 48, is not a natural-born revolutionary...

She's an aging hippie. What's the difference?

BS. She has been a Hysteric Leftist activist all her life. Yet another example of the Dinosaur Media publishing what they WANT the story to be, not what the truth is.

Frankly, this woman is becoming a joke. She acts like some over-the-hill, drugged-out flower child. She's surrounded by a bunch of moth-eaten hippies. Where did they dig up all those old Vietnam-era peace buttons they're wearing?

In most of the coverage I've seen, Sheehan has a spaced out look on her face or she appears almost giddy. I can't believe the American people are buying this grieving mother routine. We've seen this all before and we know what's up.

I live in MA and we are not allowed to shoot anything, anywhere, anytime! Of course, if my last name was kerry or kennedy I'm sure I'd get away with shooting my shotgun off in the backyard!

she doesent understand all the implications of her medling

She's spewing typical left wing BS, I listen to talk radio here in MA and everyone once in awhile a lib will call the station, the talk show hosts gives libs all the time in the world to make asses out of themselves (and they do!) however, they all spew the same BS, I think they get a news letter once a week with the quotes of the week to spew about as they see fit, they all sound the same, every lib as the same play book, amazing, like sheep, can't think for themselves and I realize that's an insult to sheep and for than I am truly sorry!!! LOL!!
