I sympathize for the loss of her son, but this woman is shedding crocodile tears to further her politics. We all sympathize for her loss...but that time (for the public) is over, and now she is merely standing on her son's coffin as if it were a soapbox.
Should every mother who lost a son or daughter in Iraq or Afghanistan be granted an audience with the President? I don't think so. Once she enters the public arena of political opinion and tactics, then she is fair game.

On the liberal sites I have read comments saying: They are nominating Cindy for a Nobel Peace Prize; Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King have phoned Cindy; and CA Congresswoman Maxine Waters was scheduled to go to Crawford this past weekend.
I didn't read anywhere that Cndy missed her kids or Cindy planned to be with them soon. I think Cindy is missing the real boat, at this point.

I am not making this up - from a liberal blog:
Cindy Press Conference
Submitted by davidswanson on Mon, 2005-08-15 14:18. Cindy Sheehan
From Crawford Update Blog
Cindy had a press conference this morning at Camp Casey. Most the major media was there. If you missed it, be sure to tune into Headline News or CNN in the coming hours. Cindy offered President Bush to join her and other military families in a non-denominational prayer meeting this Friday in support of our troops in Iraq and their families. Let's hope the President makes the right decision.
A gentleman from ABC News has been here since the beginning and done some great work for us. At the press conference he couldn't seem to let go of the question around whether Cindy felt as though she had become distracted from her original goal of meeting with the President because of the media circus and all the people that had arrived in support of her.

You do not have to read them. Is anyone making you? Go to other threads, there are many to choose from.

Now a web site has posted her divorce papers --
FR thread re The Smoking Gun.
I actually heard about Smoking Gun posting her divorce papers much earlier today, from a liberal site.
I guess these web sites out there are not paying any attention to her demand here, to leave her family alone. I wonder why... (well, not really).

I am sorry about your loss. We lost our younger daughter last year from complications of Crohn's Disease. It is the toughest journey any parent can take. God Bless you and your family.

To Cindy Sheehan: Hey, stupid, you're the one who decided you had to have fifteen minutes of fame. Here's your to-do list:
1. Go home.
2. Take shower.
3. Grieve in private.

HE HAS ALREADY MET WITH HER. That is more than some parents received. This person has been a leftist all of her life. She does not deserve any press at all. I have lost a child and I know what that is like. Believe me, this is not grief but her absolute hatred for America, President Bush and anyone else who does not believe like she does.

This sounds like the typical story of a divorced woman - she needs some attention because she can't get it at home. If this doesn't point to the liberal mindset more clearly than anything else, I don't know what does.
She has destroyed her family through this divorce - rather than confront and deal with that guilt, what better target to plaster than GW?
This isn't about her son Casey, or the war or the "Neo-cons." This is about Cindy Sheehan's inability to confront and deal with her own personal family issues.
Divorce is the root of all modern evils in this country.

I think the term that could be applied here is Media Whore.
All I do know is that the son- God Bless him- rose above whatever genetics his mother supplied.
I wonder what he thinks of her now?

I have to admit I am at the point now where I am almost laughing with embarassment at my previous posts, urging her to spend time at home with her kids - she doesn't have time for that. Not anymore! According to this
Reuters article, she is "booked" for September. Who has time for kids when you're on the public speaking circuit fulltime, nationwide and abroad?
...Public relations firm Fenton Communications was hired to help organize media coverage for Sheehan and is being paid by TrueMajority, a nonprofit advocacy project founded by Ben Cohen, co-founder of the Ben and Jerry's ice cream company.
Sheehan, a Democrat, rejects any suggestion that her actions are politically motivated against a Republican president.
"I don't think this is being politically active," she said. "I see it as life and death, war and peace. It just so happens that the party who is the most war-like and that wants the war the most is the Republican Party."
But she also had plenty of criticism for Democrats.
"They vote for the funding, or they voted to give Bush the authority to go to war. They won't stand up and say well we voted to give you the authority, now we're going to take it away," she said. "A lot of Democrats are very wishy-washy."
Sheehan said she has been asked by several groups to consider running for Congress, but dismissed that, saying she is a one-issue activist -- bringing U.S. troops home.
She is already booked for the whole of September with speaking engagements and other activities in Italy, Colorado, Louisiana and Washington, D.C.

Thank you! I was wondering when someone would mention the abysmal grammar. You'd think that with so many media whores handling and managing this whack job they'd at least prep her on correct grammar. Makes me crazy when someone says, "...between you and I". Arrrrrgh!
To: MamaB
what is with your attitude to me? I was being sarcastic. I can't stand this Sheehan women. Her 15 minutes should have ended already.
No reason to be nasty to me. In fact I am surprised.

Makes me crazy when someone says, "...between you and I". I have a friend who says stuff such as: "They gave this bottle of wine to Carol and I." I want to take the bottle and hit him over the head with it until he wakes up (or goes completely to sleep.)
Another beauty is one I often hear the baseball announcers say. It's the letter "h" they stick at the end of the word "height" so that it becomes "heighth." As in "I don't know why the ump called that a ball. It had the width, but apparently not the heighth." I am amazed anyone can get out of second grade saying "heighth."

I have to say I ws surprised to read this, in the recent SF article (which also mentioned the recent FR rally in Crawford):
-----------
...In the words of Bill Dobbs, an organizer with United for Peace and Justice, anti-war leaders have been reluctant to promote a personality over their message because "power corrupts."
"Don't get me wrong, we love Cindy and we think what she is doing is great and we support her," said Dobbs, noting that Sheehan has long participated in United for Peace and Justice events and plans to appear at a mass demonstration in September in Washington.
"But Cindy didn't just come out of nowhere. She has been saying the same thing for a while, and the road she is traveling down has been paved by hundreds of anti-war groups across the nation that have been working continuously for a long time."
...she makes no secret of the fact that she spends three weeks out of the month traveling to various anti-war events and speaking appearances before liberal groups.
------------
So - she spends three weeks out of every month traveling? (And her husband wants a divorce? No kidding. ) And she has no time for her other kids?
It sounds to me like the left is willing to cast her in the role of the "face" of the anti-war movement, but I don't think the average American, who is married, or single with kids, is going to relate to this schedule she keeps, sans her other kids.
When you read ALL these articles, as each one has something different to report, she now sounds like she was speaking out before, then got an idea to camp out down in Crawford, and wow - now her schedule is booked FOUR weeks out of the month, not just "three."
Well, good for her public speaking career. But, sympathetic mom - absent from her other kids' lives - is a role she may not be able to credibly play at this point, no disrepect intended to the son she lost. There are many ways to express one's opinion. Globe-trotting may not be the best choice for a dedicated mom, if that's what she is, or wants to be, or wants people to see her as being.
