Mike Hammond, of Gun Owners of America, tried to get him to prevent any amendments to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act by filling out the bill's amendment tree, and not only did he have to explain to Frist what that was, but then Frist lost his nerve at the last minute leaving us with the trigger lock amendment from Master Lock, Inc. Senator Kohl, and the A/P ammo amendment.

But Frist's knack for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time has cast a pall over his once-bright presidential ambitions for 2008, apart from his national leadership role in the party.

His speech at The Republican National Convention was a BORING BOMB!

While we may disagree, it is refreshing to see a Washington politician actually take a principled stand on an issue.

Consulting the NYT Editorial page for your views is hardly a principled stand. He made that same old mistake all republicans eventually get around to making: Thinking that popularity with the Washington social circuit is popularity with the people.

Frist missed the counting of Electoral College votes (including the Ohio challenge) to leave on a medical mission to the Indian Ocean after the tsunami.

And properly so. Watching paint dry would be a better use of Frist's, or anyone's, time than dignifying the farcical "challenge" with his presence.
