Land owner Larry Mattlage looks out from his ranch across the street from the anti-war protesters' camp.

"Well, I'm getting ready for dove season," Larry Mattlage, 62, told reporters of the shots fired around 10 a.m. (noon EDT). Asked if there was an underlying message to the shots, which he fired harmlessly into the air, Mattlage told a reporter, "Figure it out for yourself."Larry's getting ready for dove season, and to quote Cindy Sheehan:
"'We're watching you (the President) very carefully and we're going to do everything in our power to have you impeached for misleading the American people,' she said, quoting a letter she sent to the White House. 'Beating a political stake in your black heart will be the fulfillment of my life...,' she said.

But throngs of anti-war protesters have parked on his land and set up portable bathrooms on the rural road that runs by his property.Someone on another thread suggested it might be a very good idea for Larry to start a nice big manure pile right at that corner of his property. Not a bad idea.

I can hardly blame Mr. Mattlage. Who'd want a bunch of scumbag Leftist protestors milling around, poluting and defecating all over their land? If he hadn't made a show of it, it's likely they would have trashed his area while keeping their campsite moderately "habitable". I sure wouldn't want to use the porta-potty after even on of those scumbags was in there.
Tipping my hat to you, Mr. Mattlage.

I love this statement he made...""I ain't threatening nobody, and I ain't pointing a gun at nobody," Mattlage said. "This is Texas."
