Camp Casey is becoming very organized, with how-to signs placed about. Ann Wright said, "That's what we are trying to do."
Let me read you the schedule posted on a tree: "9:15 camp meeting; 10 a.m. inter-faith service, 10:30 a.m., "Food-Not-Bombs Breakfast at Peace House," and....
"Wait! Someone is firing a gun. (pause). He fired it into the air about five times. He appears to be a local inside the fence line on private property. Now he has thrown what looks like a shotgun into the front seat of a pickup, and he's stomping off out of sight. I wonder where he went.
"Now he's coming back out. I'm out here standing on the road. He's got a no parking sign in his hand, walking toward his fence. I'm going to go try to talk to him. I've got to hang up."
(three minutes later)
I went over and talked to the man. He is Larry Mattlage, who says he is on his property and just posted a no-parking sign.
"We're going to start doing our war and it's going to be underneath the law," he told me. "Whatever it takes. So y'all go find another place to do whatever you do. 'Cause this is our front yard and back yard."
I asked, "Do you mean the protestors?"
Wait.....now there's some Secret Service and cops. I'm going to get closer to hear what they're saying. People in bullet-proof vests are here now. Two Secret Service agents are now walking up his driveway towards his house, with Mr. Mattlage. A member of the Sheriff's Department has arrived. Mr. Mattlage is waving his arms now. All of them are now walking back this way.
Now they are between the lane and the house. He's at the fence now. Let me record what they are saying. I'll call right back.

Really? Do you know where he was in relation to the protesters when he legally fired shots in the air from his own property? If he endangered people, including the SS, don't you think they'd have him tackled and in custody by now, instead of him giving interviews to the press?
See post 292
I fire rounds all the time at our county property.
Come stop me.
That was my point. I know what Angus are.
He may well raise a few of both.
Boer goats are a very popular meat animal around these parts.
Lots of ranchers raise a mix of cattle, sheep and goats.
There probably will be no trespassing either now that he's made an unambiguous statement under the Second Amendment concerning his property rights.
At Canisius College, the ROTC armory was in the basement of the chapel.
Like kicking at a fire ant mound, this man is being provoked. Though not 'camped' on his property, these people continue to infringing upon it despite being politely asked not to. Mr. Mattlage has been pressed into posting "No Trespassing" signs on his land ~ something he's never felt the need to do in the past ~ and still these people post signs on his trees, park vehicles on his property and so on.
"The protestors are getting exactly what they want there."
Actually, the protesters are creating exactly what they want there. Yes, they will try to distort and capitalize on Mr. Mattlage's frustration, but it doesn't matter. Like creating and circulating the rumor that sheehan was going to "get arrested" in a ploy to mobilize supporters to flock to Crawford, with or without Mr. Mattlage, these folks will invent whatever scenario they think will garner them attention.
Texans do not take kindly to these kinds of shenanigans when the perpetrators stage them in our front yard and they especially do not take to folks like those in DU working to create additional problems for an innocent bystander, like Mr. Mattlage.
From post #110 on this thread : DU post were Mr. Mattlage's personal info is being put out by DUmmies.
It could be solid. Id be angry enough to do it if a bunch of seditious traitors camped on my property - and the local law did nothing. Firing a shotgun did get attention.
Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!
How about a 50 caliber machinegun? The kind that is belt-fed, has a thumb operated trigger on both sides of the action, cocks with a lever that takes a firm grip and strong tug, and sits on a tripod, and doesn't mind looking over 500 yards downrange? Does that count?
When I was about 8-10 years old my dad worked for Mcdonnell-Douglas and they had a family day. One of the attractions was that self-same 50. I got to pull the triggers with my dads hands on top of mine and I'll never forget the sound and sight and feel of that weapon on the tarmac of the airstrip.
"Food-Not-Bombs Breakfast at Peace House,"
It got attention.
LOL
While we are talking about goats.
The "Boer" breed was imported from South Africa a number of years ago, hence the "Boer" name. Probly some of the best "barbecue feedstock" there is.
I dont live really that far from Crawford, maybe 130 miles and terrain is very similiar.
If I recall correctly, our football team and Crawford's competed in the playoffs last year.
We got beat.........
No idea ... but I think it's funny! Maybe they were thinking "Butter, not Guns," only butter would offend vegans.
Nice image! Gonna save that for the next ZOT :D
Not many goats up here...But cattle all over the place....Feedlot=smell of money....LOL
