Physical and spiritual fitness
I notice more people exercising in the Joe Dugger Fitness Center lately. I wonder if this is because spring is here and we are more in the mood to exercise, or is it because the military fitness test is coming up? Either way, it is a good thing, because exercise makes us healthier.
There is such a thing as spiritual fitness as well. Navy Medicines second guiding principle states, We believe health to be a complete state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being, not simply the absence of infirmity or disease.
You might wonder, How do I exercise spiritually? Its a great question. Spiritual exercise is done through prayer, meditation, scripture reading and worship. These exercises help strengthen us spiritually.
Exercise helps us to be stronger and healthier. Just as physical exercise can help us to run faster and live longer, so spiritual exercise can help us to find meaning and purpose to life, and develop a relationship with the one who made us.
St. Paul wrote,
Exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:7,8).
If you are looking for a place to become spiritually fit, may I suggest our base Chapel, which offers Sunday worship at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., and Sunday School for all ages at 9:30 a.m.

I'm in.
The trolls have been all over the forum harping about Cindy Sheehan.
*sigh*
Remember the rest of her family in prayers, and her especially.
I can't do it myself, I am too angry with her for how she disrepects her son.

Bellyaching And Its Cure
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up. 1 Corinthians 13:4
|
A mentally impaired man always shook hands with his pastor after each service. But he often made critical comments like these: "You preach too long." "Your sermons are boring." "You talk about yourself too much." Distressed, the pastor mentioned this to a deacon, who replied, "Oh, don't worry about him. All he does is parrot what he hears others say." Grumbling is an all-too-common sin among Christians, and some are chronic complainers. They are skilled at finding something wrong with anyone who is actively trying to serve the Lord. And undoubtedly all of us have done some bellyaching. The best cure for this sinful habit is Christian lovesomething easy to talk about but difficult to practice. First, we must consciously desire God's best for everyone. This love "suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; . . . love does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil" (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). Then, as we depend on the Lord, we must put these attitudes into practice. The next time you feel like finding fault with someone, resist that impulse and look for a way to do good to that person (Galatians 6:10). Do this diligently, and in time you will be cured of your bellyaching. Herb Vander Lugt
I would not criticize the one who works, The one who listens to God's Word and heeds; But I would criticize myself, dear Lord, Confess to You my faithless words and deeds. Hess

Good Sunday to you Mayor. Thank you for your daily lesson from the word of God. As it says in Proverbs 15:13--"A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, but when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken."
Thanks for reminding us that when we have God, we don't need to be unhappy or angry. God is Love!
