In the ordinary course of events, a conservative columnist frequently finds himself defending American business, or this or that aspect of it, against attacks from the left. There is something about liberals, and the left generally, that makes them instinctively hostile to businessmen. It probably goes back to socialism's preference for government management of economic affairs.
In any case, liberals are forever attacking companies like Wal-Mart, even though these enterprises are selling their wares to the public at huge discounts. And they make life as miserable as possible for employers in general, without reflecting that, without employers, there would be no such thing as employees.

Brother, I feel for you. But I'm working my fingers to the bone too. I like it about as much as catching my manhood in my zipper after a tinkle. So if you want to throw a dirty name my way, I'm flushing it down the toilet with the spent urine and blood that's dripped from my tired frame. Save your insults for the devil or the reflection in the mirror. I'm not your enemy, so don't make this personal.
I'm still too young to appreciate what an old man struggles through in his old age. Even with that being said, to keep my job, I hustle as if a religious cult will sacrifice me to the false god of wealth if I run too slow. Pardon me if my generation doesn't have the man power your generation had to fund your aging generation's retirement. Is it any wonder calloused kids my age and younger don't mind seeing your generation starved to death? What can you expect of the modern abortionists society? Sympathy? Empathy? What's that? Maybe it can be grown from the culture of an aborted fetus? No, wait, it will have to be imported because our own hearts of stone have run dry for such a humane quality.
"That would take care of SS nicely without burdening your paycheck."
Thanks, that's interesting, and I like it. Personally, I'd do better if I funded my own retirement. If I screw it up, I can only blame myself. With today's model, we'll still have the gov't screwing it up even if we switched the revenue source.
What's this overtime BS your bitching about if you don't enjoy what you do to exist do something else or maybe your pampared lazy generation should be just kicked out in the street.
You have no understanding of what I said. If I won the lottery tomorrow I wouldn't back off how much work I do or at what age I might quit. I've put in my 70+ hours a week by choice, no one forced or told me to do it.
So reduce the American standard of living to the third world level and voila ! Illegal immigration ends ?
That "solution" is totally unacceptable.
The tag line I've been using this last week offers a method of deportation which is both cheap and timely.
it is a combination of :
Corrupt Mexican Govt
Business interests
Multi-culturalists who want to destroy America's european heritage
I sincerely think that you just want to pick a fight.
When you open a reply in post #19 with...
"Well jackass, "

"maybe your pampared lazy generation should be just kicked out in the street"
What sort of "understanding" do I need?
It sounds like youre so happy at what you do that it should never have mattered that your salary decreases with the influx of immigrant labor. Did God push His finger in the dirt to divide the world in hatred of political lines, or is that sinfulness of rage our doing?
"Family values don't stop at the border." --President Bush in a 2004 pre-election interview with Bill O'Reilly, Fox News
From post #23, "What's this overtime BS your bitching about if you don't enjoy what you do to exist do something else..."
90% of everyone I know is chasing after money to pay the mortgages of the houses construction companies build. That's not your fault that the market is like that, but I'll tell you that many of your clients hate working the extra hours to pay you and would rather spend that time in the homes they bought and with the families they house there.
I'd rather modify a used $5,000 40-foot reefer container than buy a $300,000 house. I'm not knocking traditional homes, but I'm no stooge to real estate, and construction codes games. My grandpa came from a hole in the ground and my first generation American butt doesn't mind the lack of comfort to save a measly buck. I'm not snubbing "domestic" Americans (if there is such a "race"), but if I can hire or pay another HUMAN BEING at a better price for equal quality...should I feel sorry for the old man that calls me "jackass...maybe your pampared lazy generation should be just kicked out in the street" when I deny him my money? It's quite a temptation to enjoy ill will or others' misery. Please don't push me. I'd rather love you, empathize your suffering, and even hire you if the opportunity were there.
If I play the floating drift wood on the lonely seas, it's because I don't care for my would be land lubbing neighbors all up in my business with a soul destroying rat race.
God Bless you.
The Fair Tax eliminates the income tax and the IRS. I agree we can't trust politicians but the Fair Tax will give us a fresh start and lots of wariness. To not try is like refusing to fall in love for fear of getting jilted. There are lots of benefits to the Fair Tax, not all of them monetary.
What's needed is wariness, or better yet fear, on the part of the politicians.
If a "Fair Tax" Act contains provisions for the execution of any politician
introducing any Bill or Amendment to a Bill proposing an income tax in addition to the sales tax It might work.
Without that fear factor we'll have both taxes in a matter of years.
Illegal immigration is my single issue during the next election -- It is that important to our country. We have been totally abandoned by the conservatives we elected to fix this, and other issues.
I agree. Illegal immigration will determine the future of our nation. We need to deal with it now, not later.
I agree that in part the increase in minimum wage is one of the problems. Plus burdening overregulation of small business.
Illegal immigration is an anathema to me, but your comment is just uncalled for. Criminals, yes, but still human beings. I reserve the term "human trash" for the truly worthy like baby rapists/killers. Yes, some of these guys are that, but most of them are just too damn greedy or lazy to immigrate the proper way.
Deport illegals, certainly, but don't dehumanize them. That is a road we shouldn't go down.
Your tax strategy is absolutely correct.
The easiest way to accomplish that is the Fair Tax.

Check it out. Even illegals would pay taxes at the same rate as you and me.
Well, at least we would have a few years of living as we should. Even if the clause you want is put into a bill it wouldn't mean anything. Remember the Gramm-Rudman bill. Spending was never to exceed income. I don't think it was ever appealed, just ignored.
We pass tax cuts and after awhile they are raised again. In 1986 Reagan agreed to tax increases if spending was cut two dollars for every one dollar increase in taxes. The Democrats agreed The Tax Reform and Paperwork Reduction Act (what a misleading name) was passed. The Democrats immediately ignored their pledge and spending went through the roof. When Reagan would veto one of their outrages they would shut the government down by withholding funds. They then starting to attaching their pork to the general funding bill which keeps the government operating so that if Reagan vetoed it they would blame him for shutting the government down. Even now they blame Reagan and his tax cuts for the deficit they ran up under him.
The point is we can't hesitate to pass good bills for fear of what the politicians may do later.
