Hundreds of people with conflicting opinions about the war in Iraq have descended on a road leading to President George W. Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch.
What started it all was the public grieving of Cindy Sheehan of Vacaville, Calif., who lost a son fighting in Iraq. She set up a tent near the Bush property last week and who soon begam appearing in news reports nationwide.
Her activity spurred Saturday's counter rallies.
More than 250 people gathered Saturday across the road from the war protesters to voice support for Bush.
Authorities kept the groups separated, but the faceoff snarled traffic as cars lined the shoulders of the narrow winding road.
Near downtown Crawford, several hundred anti-war demonstrators heard from relatives of American soldiers who have died in Iraq.
Sheehan has agreed to meet privately Saturday evening with Bush supporters whose relatives have lost their lives in Iraq.

This is one of the few times where the media crowd estimate and the FReeper crowd estimate match nearly exactly. I'm impressed, by the estimate and the turnout!

Sheehan has agreed to meet privately Saturday evening with Bush supporters whose relatives have lost their lives in Iraq. Good. Maybe she'll actually learn something.
Assuming she's actually capable of doing so, I mean.

I like how the article doesn't mention the actual number of folks over at Camp Cindy.

What started it all was the public grieving of Cindy Sheehan of Vacaville, Calif., Public grieving? More like political activism.

I'm still skeptical when the media throws out numbers so grudgingly.

I don't get it. If he had just given her fifteen minutes on the first day she started this it would have made her look less sympathetic if she continued to stick around.
Plus, counter protesting someone whose kid died, even if you don't agree with her, even if his paternal side of the family is right when they say she's using his death to further her agenda, is just plain tacky.

W
hat started it all was the public grieving Well, the AP got that shameful fact right. And it speaks to the low grade of this woman. Back in the day, the bereaved would mourn in private. Cancel social engagements, etc. Not create an event caused to have everyone gape at them.

I loathed the hippie anti-war demonstrators during Viet Nam and I loathe them even more now that I have been through two wars myself.
Time to break out a couple dozen cases of CS and gas the crap out of them and disperse this damn crowd once and for all

He gave her time when her son was killed. The President has bigger fish to fry. He has wasted his breath even responding to this farce that Windy and the MSM have created.

Oh, so she's granting audiences now.
She must be under the delusion she's the Popette.

I don't think it hurts to show our President that he has support.

If he had just given her fifteen minutes......You are either deeply ignorant of the game being perpetrated by CS and her handlers, Moveon.org, Micheal Moore, etc., or you are a troll.

He already met with her last year. She is nothing but a tool of the far-left.
To: Mark
Quite to the contrary. The libs and the socialist lamestream media are trying to destroy him. He needs all the support we can give him.

The next move in the game would be for our side to give her this. If she asks for more after one group meeting and one private meeting then we are able to portray her to the American public for what she truly is. There is no way the Left can spin that.
