With its latest ad lying about Judge Roberts record, NARAL has proven itself to be an extremist organization, far outside of the mainstream of American thought.
NARAL and the ad have been denounced by Conservative and Liberal media alike, and by both Republicans and many Dems.

It seems to me that that Hillary must run to the left and stick with her extreme positions on social issues in the NY Senate race, and that would cost her in any possible run for POTUS.

This is of interest in Jeanine's run against Hillary in NY.
Jeanine Pirro's positions differ sharply from Hillary Clinton, who is closely allied to NARAL and Emily's List.
Jeanine has opposed partial birth abortion with saving the life of the mother as the only exception.
Jeanine has been a strong supporter of the Laci and Connor Peterson Bill imposing a criminal penalty for harming an unborn fetus during the commission of another crime.
Hillary? She voted NO on the ban of partial birth abortion on which many Dems voted to ban it. She voted NO on the Laci and Connor Peterson Bill.

You have succintly put into words why I posted this -- to show how extreme both Hillary and NARAL are -- though Hillary is trying to show herself as a centrist.

And I do hope this does damage to Hillary's senate run in 2006 as well as her potential run in 2008. The point, in my opinion, of posting this thread...

God bless.

You got another gal named "Jeanine Pirro" hiding out in NY somewhere? I hate to break it to you, but the one running for the U.S. Senate is beloved by NARAL and Hillary's twin on abortion.

NARAL's Gal!

"Mrs. Pirro, though a Republican, disagrees with President Bush on abortion and hate-crimes legislation, which she supports. She won a '100 percent pro-choice' rating from Kelli Conlin, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice New York."(Washington Times, June 23, 2005)

"Kelli Conlin, NARAL's executive director, said the group endorsed Pirro because, when all else is equal, it goes with incumbents with records of supporting abortion rights. NARAL sat out Pirro's first race for district attorney in 1993 because both candidates were abortion-rights advocates, and skipped her last race in 1997 because it didn't see it as competitive, Conlin said.

"'Jeanine Pirro is 100 percent pro-choice and has a tremendous record to run on. Jeanine's success as Westchester D.A. gives her the experience to be a great Attorney General,'" said Kelli Conlin, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice New York, in an e-mailed statement. (New York Observer, June 6, 2005)

Westchester Co. DA Jeanine Pirro (R) and NY Gov. George Pataki (R) are among a "handful" of NY GOPers featured by an abortion-rights group in an ad bashing Bush.

N.B. The ad by NARAL Pro-Choice NY shows pictures of four NY GOPers -- including Pataki and Pirro -- and "credits them" for supporting legalized abortion. It also shows a picture of Bush with the words "anti-choice" stamped across it.

NARAL spokesperson Robert Jaffe: "It is intended to send the message that we in New York are blessed to have pro-choice leaders who are Republicans, and George Bush is out of the mainstream." Jaffe said the ad was "timed to coincide" with the convention and is "already up in selected subway stations" near Madison Square Garden and other key points of the city. It is also being run in the New York Observer.

Copies of the ad, which also feature NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R) and Giuliani, will be distributed by NARAL volunteers near convention-related events next week (Blain, Westchester Journal News, 8/27). -- The Hotline, August 27, 2004 "Pirro's office did not respond to multiple calls seeking comment about the advertisement this week. She was the only elected official from outside the city or state government featured in the ad." (Westchester Journal News, 8/27/04)
