Mother already met Bush [Editorial from Cindy' hometown newspaper]
The Reporter ^ | 8/12/05 | Catherine Moy

Posted on 08/13/2005 10:18:56 AM PDT by summer

Cindy Sheehan's incessant Bush-hating landed her on the Web site of Al-Jazeera, a propaganda arm for Muslim terrorists, and splintered her family, who mourn the loss of her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, who died last year in Iraq. Mrs. Sheehan is now a tool of America-haters. She has joined the family of radical Democrats in defiance of her son's blood relations.

Her family has had enough. Cherie Quarterolo, Casey's godmother and aunt, wrote a letter to KSFO saying the family broke its silence because "our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy." The note read in part:

"The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan family supports the troops, our country, and our president, silently, with prayer and respect."

The Sheehan family has exposed itself to the scorn of leftists. Anti-war activists hope Cindy Sheehan's status as a grieving parent will protect her from criticism.

I wrote a column last year relaying my sorrow over her loss. In an e-mail, she told me to stop writing about her son. She did not want media attention.

So, what changed? The anti-Bush crowd now handles Mrs. Sheehan, answering her phone and prepping her for the media, according to Sheehan's online diary.

She still doesn't like critical media attention or when the media ignore her.

"I conservatively got three to five phone calls a minute. I did about 25 phone interviews and several TV interviews," Mrs. Sheehan wrote in the diary. "I was supposed to do: 'The Today Show,' MSNBC live interview, 'Connected Coast to Coast' and 'Hardball,' both on MSNBC. 'The Today Show' just never showed up and the other three MSNBC shows cancelled for no reason. Could it be because NBC is owned by General Electric, a major defense contractor?"

President Bush already heard her last year when taxpayers paid her way to visit him. Later, she told The Reporter that she knew Bush is "sorry and feels some pain for our loss." On Sunday, she told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that Bush's deputy chief of staff met with her in Texas and told her "the president really cares." And I said, "You can't tell me that because I've met with him and I know that he doesn't care."

Mrs. Sheehan has had her turn with the president and changed her statements about their meeting. President Bush shouldn't waste more time on her.

The author, of Fairfield, can be reached at Poohdo@aol.com. She returns to her regular Saturday spot next week.

There's grieving and then there's media whoring. Does anyone know what her real relationship with her son was? Were they close or did they not get along? Did she mommy him or always have to be in control? Could he have joined the army to get away from her? Has she always been whiny and it's all about me?

This woman reminds me of those parents who hurt their children so they can get attention. They call it "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy"

The parent deliberately harms their own child so they can get attention for themselves. And isn't that exactly what this woman is doing?

To he double l with her son, to he double l with his memory, she doesn't seem to care as long as she is in the limelight.

I think this woman is one sick individual. And my heart cries out for wonderful her son and his memory. I fear his courageous act of giving his life for something he believed in is being besmeared. And all for this woman's own selfish misguided sick reasons.

I don't think anyone can deny that she is. But as another poster mentioned a little bit higher in the thread, its a question of whether she's culpable or not.

Given her behavior, especially the radical change in her perceptions of meeting with the President, I think she's certifiable. I really think that, as wrong as her behavior is, she is speaking from her heart. But the words are being put into her heads by others.

I think that the anger towards her, while understandable, is misplaced. It needs to be directed against those craven and cynical persons/organizations that are exploiting her, what are there whispering in her ear telling her that what she is doing is right, that she's going to end the war that claimed her son, that she's going to end up saving the children of other American families.

Besides the usual Bush-hating suspects who are down there with her, I'd add the media to the list of the actively culpable. She's already made it clear that the reporters covering her are reinforcing her behavior by voicing support for what she's doing.

Dear Cindy,

I'm writing this letter slow because I know you can't read fast.

I don't live where we did when you left home for Crawford. I read in the newspaper that most accidents happen within 20 miles from your home, so I moved. I won't be able to send you the address because the last family that lived here took the house numbers when they moved so that they wouldn't have to change their address.

This place is really nice. It even has a washing machine. I'm not sure it works so well though, last week I put a load in and pulled the chain and haven't seen them since. The weather isn't bad here. It only rained twice last week, the first time for three days and the second time for four days.

About that coat you wanted me to send you, your good friend, Michael Moore said it would be too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets. Your other friend, Barbara Streisand, locked her keys in the car yesterday. We were really worried because it took her two hours to get me and your father out. Your sister had a baby this morning, but I haven't found out if you are an aunt or uncle. The baby looks just like Martin Sheen. Your adopted Uncle Ted Kennedy, fell in a whiskey vat last week. Some men tried to pull him out, but he fought them off valiantly and drowned. We had him cremated and he burned for three days. Three of your friends went off a bridge in a pick-up truck. Uncle Jesse Jackson was driving. He rolled down the window and swam to safety. Your other two friends were in back. They drowned because they couldn't get the tailgate down.

There isn't much more news at this time. Nothing much has happened. Hope you get a trailer in Crawford soon.

Sincerely,
Your ex-husband Bob

P.S. I was going to send you some money down to your new camp in Crawford but the envelope was already sealed.

That's all fine but SHE's the one who needs to be stopped - we need to be past the point where someone's intentions give them a pass.

One question, is her son buried in the ditch alongside the President's ranch in Crawford? I keep seeing the MSM showing this total contrived photo-op of her touching and stroking the little white cross and flowers kneeling in the ditch.
I keep thinking there is some producer standing there next to a camera man giving her directions.
Kind of like Mr. Clinton finding those little white stones on the otherwise sandy beach at Normandy and with the cameras rolling, forms them into a cross and then poses deep in thought.

Where is Michael Moore when you need him.

Nah, it's just high school production level theatrics.

What grates me is her sing-songy, 12-year-old girl voice and delivery. I don't blame hubby for ditching her...

Agree. The best way to do that, imho, is to shower her with pity, dismiss her as being brainwashed and actively lay the blame at the feet of the people and organizations that are handling and exploiting her.

Coming at her straight on with anger, as rightfull as that anger may be, is only going to serve to validate her beliefs and messages and, indeed, create more publicity for them. Better to outflank her ...

She and her husband are separated, affected by the stress of losing their son.

My guess is he hit the road because of her incessant media dance on the grave of his son. Michael Moore and the crew at Al Jazeera cut in on his time of grieving.

Thanks for that link...did you notice how she said her son didn't believe in the war...didn't want to go fight in the war, but did so because he felt it was his duty?

Sad how she would say this and he can't defend his own thoughts and feelings because he gave his life so she would have the right to say these totally hateful things!

Also, something to think about...If he was so against the war, why did he voluntarily re-up?

Emphasis on her grief has shattered her ability to think and then really hitting the america haters hard sounds like a plan.

But it never seems to work - I'm still hearing way too much about the poor woman's loss and almost nothing about how her activity endangers even more of our "kids".

I'm out of patience - the bottom line is these fools will kill us all and feel quite virtuous while doing it.

Certainly I think that she was Liberal and anti-war long before her son was killed

I think so too. and if she was vocal about it, she was probably humiliated at her son's reinlisting. grief, mixed with the humiliation, could be pretty powerful. now she wants to "show them all" how wrong they (and Casey) are about the war.

now she wants to "show them all" how wrong they (and Casey) are about the war.

She reminds me of a professor I had in undergrad (for a required course, no less) in the late 1980s. He was an unrepentant Communist, even to the point of showing everyone his CPUSA membership card on the first day of class. Apparently his father, also a Communist, had been blacklisted as a result of the McCarthy/HUAC investigations.

Guy had major issues, to say the least. He'd provoke the students with all sorts of anti-American, pro-Soviet rhetoric. He would get extremely agitated about the US's "warmonger" president (Reagan). At the time the "usual" reaction of the students was to get angry and fight back with him ... something he completely relished (reference the "get into a mudfight with a pig" analogy).

He apparently made it all of three weeks into the Spring 1990 semester before suddenly going on a "sabbatical". With the fall of the Berlin wall only a few months before, he'd been greated with contemptuous laughter, rather than the usual anger when he tried to peddle his Marxist/Leninist line about the historical inevitablity of Communism. He could take being "the enemy" just fine. He couldn't take being a pathetic joke.

Same thing applies to Sheehan. Those of us on the right side of this issue have more than enough evidence to show that she has emotional issues that go far beyond the boundries of "normal" (if there is such a thing) grief at the loss of a child. We have evidence that she's being provoked, manipulated, handled, exploited by a raft of truly disgusting anti-American people and organizations. We KNOW that she's changed her stories substantially, apparently after becoming involved with those people/organizations.

We attack her with anger, we validate her views and make her a victim of some sort of pro-Bush, pro-war, pro-death, Republican/Conservative cabal (a charge that is already being made). Better to turn that around and present her, more correctly imho) as the victim of the blame America first, hate America always Left.

Cindy Sheehan is a disgrace and is aiding and abetting , not only the enemy, but the actual murderers of her son!

She is endangering the lives of all of our soldiers and the circus that the media has created with this woman is despicable.
