AAAaaaaawwww--yyeeeaaaahhhhh!

I knew I swung by the castle for a reason. Ha, what am I thinking? I OBVIOUSLY need a little bit of dusting.

All your little avatars remind me of a story about my grandfather and his brother. But, first, you need a little background on them. My grandfather was as straight-laced and warm-hearted a man as I think I've ever known. In twenty years I never heard him utter an off-color expression, much less allow a foul epithet to pass his lips. He was a righteous man who walked his talk and, when he spoke af Jesus, you sensed that it was firsthand information. His brother, while also a decent Christian man, was a more colorful character, and was always the wildcard in any social setting.

So, years ago, when grandpa and his brother were in their early 70's, they were sitting together in a park at my grandfather's birthday picnic/family reunion and my grandfather mentioned that he'd been out shopping early one afternoon that week with his wife. He told how he'd got bored and sat down on a bench as she browsed among the clothing racks. Well, he was sittng, just sorta staring at the floor, but he began noticing peoples' shoes as they walked past. At this point in the story, he looked straight at my great uncle and asked, "You ever notice all the strange things women wear on their feet these days?" To which my great uncle fired back, "No. Somehow I never make it down that far."
