the testbed recurve laminated bamboo bow WORKS
not perfectly - it has an annoying tendency to twist when drawn.
well enough, however, to demonstrate the following:
1. the glue is strong and flexible enough
2. the glued bamboo fiercely holds its introduced recurve
3. bamboo is INSANELY powerful as a torsion spring material
The real longbow should not suffer from the twist problem, as it shall be wider (side to side) than it is thick (back to belly) and will be a multidirectional laminate rather than a unidirectional one.
I'm officially elevating my estimated chance of pulling this off with a reasonable degree of success from 15% up to a grand and lovely 50%
(considering that my original estimate was <5%, I think I'm coming along well on this project)
Congrats, KP.
Ausgezeichnet!
Bamboo is a phenominal plant fibre.
I am going to crank-up my air compressor and perform some paintwork with my airbrushes and realx a bit before I return to reading.
