BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. forces raided an insurgent facility that may have been producing an unspecified type of chemicals, the U.S. military said Saturday. It was unclear what was being produced or whether the materials were intended for weapons, the statement added.
U.S. troops, acting on a tip from detainees under interrogation, raided a "suspected insurgent chemical production facility" in northern Iraq last Tuesday, the statement said, without specifying the location.
However, the military cautioned that ongoing testing at the facility was "insufficient to determine what the insurgents had been producing."

But you said it's not a lab and that there is nothing sophisticated in Iraq, unless the Americans "brung" it. Suggest you go back and read again.

"..but hiding/making a small amount of chemicals surprises you?"
No, not at all. Of course Iraq is too big to monitor every inch, of course they make bombs and would attemt to produce some chemical agents. My point was that I think the media is attempting to make this sound much different than what you said. eg.
"U.S. troops raided a suspected insurgent chemical weapons factory in northern Iraq."
The use of the word "factory" is misleading, a factory could be 2 ragheads mixing chemicals in their basement, but one tends to think in much bigger terms when using that word. I don't trust the media, they would just love to make it sound like, that after going to war over WMD and "not finding any", and after occupying the country for a year and a half, that 'NOW' WMD is being produced in "factory's" inside Iraq. See what I mean, it certainly would make GWB and our Military look bad. That's all I meant, that the media and then the rats would love to point this out and make it sound much 'bigger' than it may be.

From what has happened in the past, I'm not sure these chemists would find poison gas if they were dipped in it. Everything is precursors or pesticides, no matter how fast it can kill you.

So right you are! Fill in the blank: "[ ] said the materials did not appear to be linked to Saddam Hussein's ousted regime."

Remember this?
USA Today: 12/3/2003:,
Canoe, newsOn another issue, UNMOVIC said advanced testing and analysis had indicated that the strain of anthrax found on R400 bombs that Iraq declared that it unilaterally destroyed was the same strain that it had earlier declared to have weaponized.
I imagine this story will be buried as well should they find anything of interest.

The MSM won't give this much play. Even if they do, Bush-haters will call it: a)something the Bush administration staged for the cameras, b)something that didn't exist in Iraq until after the invasion, or c)innocent Iraqi boys mixing fertilizer to help rebuild the crop fields torn up by mean, neasty American soldiers.
I don't care if Saddam Husein had walked into the UN Security Council with a live chemical round and detonated it on live television. The left would still say Bush lied about WMD.
To: Coop
"BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Coalition forces have found more than 1,500 gallons of various chemicals in what officials believe is an insurgent chemical production facility and storage sites, the U.S. military said Saturday. "
Now now now... 1500 gallons of chemicals do not a stockpile make.
And either way, Saddam was in jail by then. The LSM will say this took place AFTER SADDAM.
Spin spin spin..

I'm virtually certain the anthrax came from Iraq. There were even articles shortly after the 10/01 anthrax attacks that said even our military and installations couldn't produce airborne, militarized anthrax and it was believed that Iraq could.

Cindy Sheehan is a piece of leftist fecal material. Send her to co-habitate with her Islamofacist buddies in Palistinian territories.

So you've already decided that this is a false alarm. And just how, pray tell, do you know more than the experts with actual access to the materials & equipment?

Another false alert on WMD. There never were any WMD, and there never will be any found because there never were any.
Just what then did Saddam do with the chemical weapons he had when he gassed the Kurds and the Iranians?
You know all those WMDS that Bill Clinton (And Every Democrat Senator from Dick Durbin to Teddy Kennedy) told us justified the Dec 1998 "Desert Fox" bombing campaign against Iraq???
