Time for the anti-war baby boomer crowd to fire up their misplaced indignation one more [let's hope] time. The same people who undermined our troops in Vietnam are now trying to eat away at the support for Iraq and our President. Casey died over there so that we could be safe over here.
Mrs Sheehan is entitled to her grief and her rage, but she's being used as the figure-head of some new 'moms who say no' crowd who will try and get mothers - of all people - to dissuade their sons from signing up and demoralize those already in uniform.
Going after the mothers to get at the boys. No trick is too low for the Liberals.
Heck...when I wrote "one more [let's hope] time" I meant to say "one LAST [let's hope] time"...but asbestos suit / face mask are on, may even stand back from the screen...
I totally agree with you on that. They are the scum of the earth. But that doesn't make her blameless, because she deliberately and willfully chose to align herself with them.
Although I've never lost a child to death, when relatives of mine have died, I never once sought the company of people who'd exploit my grief for their own ends. When a friend of mine was murdered, I never once blamed the President for her murder. When the son of another friend of mine was killed in a car accident, she grieved enormously, but she never lashed out into irrational, paranoid rage.
Cindy Sheehan didn't have to do any of that either, but that was her choice. And so, she gets no sympathy from me.
I don't mean to pick on you as it has been posted by more than one person.
But I don't really care for the argument that he volunteered with the presumption that his fate is his own fault.
I don't care if he volunteered or was drafted or was there because of an old-style press gang. He either died for a worthy and noble cause serving his country or he didn't.
I believe he did. I believe the Iraq war is a worthy cause. I hope your argument is that Casey believed it was a noble cause and volunteered for it. But even his belief is not necessary. He died honorably serving his country in a noble cause. His mom's effort to belittle his cause and therefore his death in that cause is a disservice to all those in our armed forces. She tarnishes her son's sacrifice by portraying it as meaningless.
Look at the photo her son wanted to be buried with and you will see his death was not meaningless and what he died for.
I sympathize with her loss.
All deaths are tragic.
However, I vehemently disagree with her that those soldiers serving and dying in Iraq are not serving in a just war. I think that's an out and out lie.
Victory in Iraq!
bttt
Are you series, or are you just provoking for your own fun?
This seems to be a very juvenile line of thought from you.
Your up early........Good morning
Sheehan is entitled to her grief but she should not be excused for allowing those parasites to use her the way she is.
First, she's lying about her son, saying he was "forced" to enlist. Her adult son re-enlisted and specifically asked to go to Iraq.
Secondly, the day she joined forces with the likes of Michael Moore, Code Pink and Communist groups, she lost any respect she would have otherwise received.
Troll
So? She is dealing with grief. Where on earth do YOU get off telling telling her how to? So what if she is lying. Sorry it affects YOUR sensibilities. She lost a son. Grow up.
Secondly, the day she joined forces with the likes of Michael Moore, Code Pink and Communist groups, she lost any respect she would have otherwise received.
It is a free country, and people have the right to join those groups.
Your OPEN contempt for her is, frankly, creepy.
You are entitled to disagree with her. Why is it so many are unable to distinguish the difference between disagreeing with her, and showing open contempt? Too hard for little thinkers?
You said: >9-11
He died to prevent 9-11?
I haven't read ahead, so I am sure someone has responded better than I could have, but.... was the US entry into WWI and WWII wrong? Korea? None of those wars were fought here, and none stopped, for example, Pearl Harbor. I guess we COULD wait to fight our next war here, but is that what you really want?
She is the one who started with and showing the open contempt.
An open contempt for the ultimate sacrifice her son gave for this country of his own free will.
Also what about her in-laws and Casey's reletives on his fathers side, are they "little minds" for speaking out publicly against Ms. Sheehan and what they consider her grandstanding and publicity seeking.
Since Aug 3, 2005
midogwood hasn't created an about page.
Smells like... OZONE!
Ms. Sheehan's grief isn't the issue. That she would dishonor her son by getting in bed with the likes of "Veterans for Peace" and Michael Moore (Ugh!) is.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
At the point where she uses it to beat up on people who are not at fault.
So what if she is lying. Sorry it affects YOUR sensibilities.
If she has her way (and make no mistake about it, there are Democrats in Congress who are taking her view of things), it would put this country in grave danger. Paying homage to her irrational paranoia is a luxury that none of us can afford.
She lost a son. Grow up.
Everybody loses somebody. That's life. She's not entitled to a free pass.

It is a free country, and people have the right to join those groups.
That's quite a statement. Earlier you showed justifiable contempt for those groups. Yet here, you seem to be saying that in her willful choice to join with these groups she doesn't deserve that same contempt.
"So? She is dealing with grief. Where on earth do YOU get off telling telling her how to? So what if she is lying. Sorry it affects YOUR sensibilities. She lost a son. Grow up. "
So PUBLICALLY lying about her son to gain PUBLIC sympathy and to make PUBLIC demonstrations against the President is perfectly acceptable in your twisted world?
"It is a free country, and people have the right to join those groups.
Your OPEN contempt for her is, frankly, creepy."
My contempt for anyone who joins sides with the liberal anti-American, leftists, communist agenda, hate-filled, anti-semetic, violent groups such as the ones she has filled her self with is creepy? Well damn well and good about that. I'd rather be creepy than in the company of the above.
If you feel so wonderful about them, go join up.
Good afternoon. :-)
