The America-hating left has a new heroine; Cindy Sheehan, mother of a soldier who volunteered for and served with the US Army. Specialist Casey Sheehan died in combat in Iraq. Ms. Sheehan has for weeks now been camping out a few miles from President Bush's Crawford, TX, ranch, staging a protest that has received goo-goo attention from the same media that brought you President Bush’s National Guard “desertion” fiction and Karl Rove’s “treasonous” outing of the identity of a CIA worker who was as covert as Howard Dean at a DNC rally. Ms. Sheehan is demanding a meeting with President Bush, saying to the crowd of fawning reporters and motley collection of 60s gray-ponytailed radicals "I want to ask George Bush, 'Why did my son die? What was the noble cause that he died for?' "
However, Ms. Sheehan met with President Bush in June 2004. At that time she pronounced herself pleased with the meeting, calling it “sincere,” continuing, "That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together," Cindy said.
Times change. Ms. Sheehan and her husband have separated and "family members of Sheehan denounced her most recent actions Thursday in an e-mail" sent to a San Francisco radio station and signed Casey's paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Said they, "The Sheehan family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. The rest of the Sheehan family supports the troops, our country and our president, silently, with prayer and respect."
Enter the Veterans for Peace. This is an excerpt of a speech posted on the VFP website:
“I'm gonna tell them, ‘You get that evil maniac [the president] out here, cuz a Gold Star Mother, somebody who's blood is on his hands, has some questions for him. And I'm gonna say, ‘OK, listen here, George. #1, you quit, and I demand, every time you get out there and say you're going to continue the killing in Iraq to honor the fallen heroes by continuing the mission; you say, except Casey Sheehan. And you say except for all the members of Goldstar Families for Peace' cuz we think not one drop of blood should be spilled in our families' names. You quit doing that. You don't have my permission. And I'm gonna say, ‘And you tell me, what the noble cause is that my son died for.’ And if he even starts to say freedom and democracy' I'm gonna say, ‘bullshit!’...
Crazy...Casey enlisted. He wasn't forced to enlist. He volunteered...
I'm sick of this already.

As I did. Did she not reconize that she could lose her son, as so many have before her? Do we need to exhume FDR to enable him to answer for all our WWII fallen?

Veterans for Peace is a national disgrace. When you join the service killing people for this country is part of the contract you signed. These are the vets who joined the service for the freebies from Uncle Sam.

Indeed, he did volunteer to protect America in case of an attack, imminent or otherwise. Where was the imminent threat? So, why did he die for?
Cindy Sheehan is an absolute a-hole. She might as well take a dump on her sons grave because that's what it appears she is trying to do with this situation.
I hear the burka is now optional in certain places because of her son and his brothers, too bad we can't put a potato sack over this mutt.

There have been no attacks on our soil since 9/11. Our men and women have done and are continuing to do a fine job in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It's an all-volunteer force, Sheehan. You're lucky that you're probably not going to the same place as your son when you die, because I'm betting he would kick your ass when you got there.
He re-enlisted after the war in august 03 I think sheehan who has left her husband is getting back at him also.
