One Hit Wonders (Voter Thread) |
Welcome To The Canteen Music Dedication!! In our continued effort to bring music themes that you want, we continue this week with our Canteen voted thread of One Hit Wonders! This list was compiled from various sources. Some of you may disagree with an artist showing up in our One Hit Wonders list, but that's okay. We're not here to state that we are the authority on such matters. We're here to enjoy some music from popular artist (although, not popular for long) of their respective music eras. There are many artists/songs that are considered One Hit Wonders. However, we don't have all day and night to list them. We've gotta sleep now and again! Hehehe! We enjoy feedback. If you have requests, please ping laurenmarlowe on the thread or via FReepmail. As always, we greatly appreciate the opportunity to entertain our Troops, Veterans, and their family members. Enjoy!

Thanks, Kathy. I love it here--y'all do such a great job for the troops and vets that I want to re-up!
Great thread tonight, all of you. Ping me the next time "oldies" comes up--most of my CD collection is pre-1990, weighted heavily toward 60s...

Welcome to the Canteen, Trident/Delta, where we honor our troops, our veterans, their families, and our allies every day. We are here 24(mostly)/7/365 to provide a place for our military to stop in, pull up a chair, and enjoy a joke, hear a song (requests taken), read some history, enjoy a cyber meal (no calories), hear about our families lives, join in the silliness, and just relax. Glad you enjoyed your visit. And thank you for your service to America.

This is a HIGH VOLUME PING LIST!!
Please ping laurenmarlowe to any song requests on the thread!
Thank you!!
Genre: Celtic/Irish
Artist: The Chieftains featuring John Hiatt
Song: Jordan Am Hard Road To Travel
Sidenote: One of MoJo's favorite songs of that persuasion!
Okay! Not nearly as good as Irish drinking songs, but close enough!
Lyrics below:
I'm gonna sing you a brand new song
It's all the truth for certain
We can't live high if we get by
And get on the other side of Jordan
Oh pull off your overcoat and roll up your sleeves
Jordan is a hard road to travel
Pull off your overcoat and roll up your sleeves
Jordan is a hard road to travel I believe.
The public schools and the highways
are causing quite an alarm
Get a country boy educated just a little
and he won't work on the farm
Now I don't know but I believe I'm right
the auto's ruined the country
Let's get back to the horse and buggy
and try to save some money.
I know a man an evangelist
his tabernacle's always full
The people come from miles around
just to hear him shoot the bull
You can talk about your evangelists
you can talk about Mr. Ford too
But Henry's shaking more hell out of the folks
than all the evangelists do.
***PLEASE ping laurenmarlowe to any requests on the thread***
Thank you!
