Herbert Hoover, the architect of the great depression
WRONG! Herbert Hoover wasn't the "architect" of the Great Depression. It was poor federal reserve policy in the late 1920s that caused the depression. Hoover and Roosevelt only made things worse by their meddling in the economy.
Wrong. The stock market was way overvalued at the time, and the crash was a new phenomenon that nobody knew what to do.
Still, Hoover's methods of dealing with it was much better than FDR socialist make-work gov't schemes.
FDR did more to contribute to the depression than Hoover did, we might still be in it if WWII hadn't happened. The economy was actually doing worse under FDR than Hoover.
Herbert Hoover was the "Scapegoat" for the Great depression.
Not the architect.
You might want to brush up on that revisionist history
The fact that a (R) follows his name makes him the scapegoat
Herbert Hoover if I understood rightly, was a God-fearing man. He did many good things before he became President. He tried to initate some good things when the Depression hit but his enemies (namely the Dims) blocked his efforts.
Hoobert Heaver?
Exactly how? Please be detailed.
You've been drinkin' the liberal Kool-aid?
"Herbert Hoover, the architect of the great depression"
You need to go back and learn history again - you are spewing the revisionist history of the Left.
I could say FDR had to allow the Japs to bomb Pearl Harbor in order to get us into WWII and so end the depression.
It is true that the '29 bust and depression that followed happened on Hoover's 'watch'. He did not cause it.
It is also true that FDR did not get us out of that depression. WWII did the trick. FDR immediately asked for and got stuff through Congress to try and end the depression in 1933 after his 1st inaugural - the same measures that Hoover asked for earlier and did not get. Some of those measures might have been effective if applied early, when Hoover asked Congress for them. FDR knew that he needed the war to turn the economy around, but I do not think that he 'arranged' the Jap attack by deliberatly ignoring evidence of what was about to happen.
Hoover's role is debatable, however he's not w/o blame. Looking back on FDR's policies however, I might think that his "interventions" may have prolonged the depression. Harry Hopkins was probably the worst influence in his cabinet (a Soviet agent?).
LBJ is also among the worse. His welfare programs (War on Poverty) made things worse by encouraging dependancy. His SecDef McNamara was also one of his bad choices, contributing to the micromanagement of the Viet Nam War.
He wasn't responsible for that. I thought the war in Europe/bombing of London was more responsible for that.
FDR - and we have been sinking deeper and deeper into the cesspool of socialism ever since.
There is no one that comes close to the damage done by FDR.
