Tancredo makes 'dent' in N.H.

Presidential poll gives Colo. congressman 1%

WASHINGTON - It's official: Rep. Tom Tancredo is a blip on the 2008 presidential radar.

Tom Tancredo's name was misspelled on survey group's Web site.

A new poll shows Tancredo, a Littleton Republican, pulling 1 percent of the vote in New Hampshire, home of the traditional first-in-the-nation presidential primary election.

American Research Group Inc. surveyed 600 likely Republican primary voters - including 433 Republicans and 167 undeclared voters - from Aug. 5 to 7.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., led with 39 percent, followed by "undecided" at 32 percent. Among others: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia drew 14 percent; Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 8 percent; Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, 5 percent; and Tancredo was tied with Sen. George Allen of Virginia, at 1 percent.

Three other possible contenders - Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Sens. Sam Brownback of Kansas and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska - did not register any support.

Tancredo has been testing the waters in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina, saying he hopes to pressure bigger-name candidates to take up his crusade against illegal immigration.

The poll reveals a name recognition issue Tancredo must overcome. His name was spelled incorrectly (as "Tancrado") on the survey group's Web site, www.ameri canresearchgroup.com.

"We've got a phonetics issue I guess," Tancredo spokesman Will Adams joked. "In any case, he has made a dent in New Hampshire. For a congressman from suburban Colorado, it's a small step but a first step."

Tancredo received less than half of 1 percent support in a survey of 600 likely Republican primary voters in neighboring Massachusetts, where McCain led the field with 46 percent.

After what happened in NH today, Mr. Tancredo will begin to look like a good choice over anybody who sides with the OBL and ignores immigration law and order. When we kick out all of the criminal alien Mexican's then we can begin to rebuild this once great nation with respect to our culture and the rule of law. If having Mexicans was so great then why don't they have a great nation in which to live? Why are they still third world with all of that oil and supposed great work ethic? Are they genetically inferior or are they culturally inferior? It must one or the other.

"well McCain may be our only hope of beating Hellary"

Better hope not. McNut is a loose cannon with the need for a brain transplant. Sorry, were just not doing the surgery yet. This nitwit hopefully will never get past the convention.

We could nominate a lawn chair and it would beat Hillary.

I'm hoping she gets the nomination, its going to be fun watching her get blown out of the water coast to coast.

Tancredo getting the Republican nomination is the Democrat's wet dream.

Wont fly anymore. Most American want something done about our immigration policies, and our borders. By 2008, at the rate we are going, there will be another 7,000,000 more illegal aliens in America.

What do you think the mood will be by then?

Enough!

please whats the difference?

look at McCains' voting record, dont just listen to what he says to the public. he has an anti-Bush axe to grind ever since the 2000 election. you are kidding yourself if you dont think he is way farther right than hillary. dont just talk on anti-McCain and anti-gang of 14 emotion. look at the voting records side-by-side and im sure you will see that McCain is a MUCH better choice than Hillary.

Gee, that's funny. All of your buddies who showed up to protest Tancredo last night in San Diego were commie/islamofascist sympathizers.

So, why didn't you show up on that thread to make your silly comments? You were pinged several times....

a RINO in the white house is a million times better than Hillary. i think we need to rally around McCain if he does indeed turn out to be the nominee. It is scary to think about what Hillary would do in charge of this country.

He won't get the nomination, God willing.

McCain voted for CAFTA, so I guess you find yourself in good company.

By the way, who is that on the left in that picture?

The country has continued to slide to the Left over the past few decades. To continue to vote for ''the lesser of two evils'' may be tactically sound, but strategically stupid. Interesting how the lesser of two evils always tends to be more liberal this year than the lesser of two evils was last year. Sometimes you just have to get off of the train and say, ''Enough is enough!'' If we continue to vote for the increasingly liberal ''lesser of two evils'', we will end up in a bigger cesspool than we are already.

Today's conservative is more liberal than yesterday's moderate. An amoral, Leftist society may be a foregone conclusion, but we don't have to lend our approval to it. Continuing to vote for increasingly liberal consensus candidates will guarantee that we will eventually no longer be a moral or conservative society. Continuing to vote for candidates like McCain, or Rudy, or Arnold, or Pataki will only guarantee that continued slide into the cesspool.

If we're going to go down, let's at least go down fighting.

i hope he doesnt either, i would prefer somebody more conservative. all im saying is that given a choice between him and hillary i would choose him. im not going to throw my vote away to a third party like in 1992 with ross perot and let hillary clinton win just to make a point that i dont like McCain

I'm sorry. As a senator from Arizona he should have a better grasp on immigration issues. He may be further right than her, but only by centimeters.

communist and dictator of Venuzeula, hugo chavez.

He and tancredo have a common animus towards CAFTA.

Venuzuela's Chavez says CAFTA 'perverse'

i see your point but i dont totally agree. we need to do everythong we can to prevent a hillary presidency and a vote for a third party by a republican is really a vote for hillary
