Presidential poll gives Colo. congressman 1%
WASHINGTON - It's official: Rep. Tom Tancredo is a blip on the 2008 presidential radar.
Tom Tancredo's name was misspelled on survey group's Web site.
A new poll shows Tancredo, a Littleton Republican, pulling 1 percent of the vote in New Hampshire, home of the traditional first-in-the-nation presidential primary election.
American Research Group Inc. surveyed 600 likely Republican primary voters - including 433 Republicans and 167 undeclared voters - from Aug. 5 to 7.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., led with 39 percent, followed by "undecided" at 32 percent. Among others: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia drew 14 percent; Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 8 percent; Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, 5 percent; and Tancredo was tied with Sen. George Allen of Virginia, at 1 percent.
Three other possible contenders - Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Sens. Sam Brownback of Kansas and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska - did not register any support.
Tancredo has been testing the waters in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina, saying he hopes to pressure bigger-name candidates to take up his crusade against illegal immigration.
The poll reveals a name recognition issue Tancredo must overcome. His name was spelled incorrectly (as "Tancrado") on the survey group's Web site, www.ameri canresearchgroup.com.
"We've got a phonetics issue I guess," Tancredo spokesman Will Adams joked. "In any case, he has made a dent in New Hampshire. For a congressman from suburban Colorado, it's a small step but a first step."
Tancredo received less than half of 1 percent support in a survey of 600 likely Republican primary voters in neighboring Massachusetts, where McCain led the field with 46 percent.
Because the government does not allow enough foreign workers in legally to fill the demand.
Of course I would prefer that only legal foreign laborers be here, but until the laws are reformed to admit a sufficient number of legal workers we will continue to have them coming illegally. That's what a guest worker plan is all about.
I can find others as well. Tell me, Bayourod, you claim to have owned restaurants, an industry that by your claims can't survive without workers from Mexico. Do you now deny saying that? Clearly many of those hundreds of workers would be hispanics, who spoke Spanish, yes?
Well, how is it that you can hire all these folks, many of whom would speak Spanish only, and you couldn't learn "three words of Spanish"?
Want me to pull up some posts of you pretending to care about the welfare of Hispanics? I can do that for you, to refresh your failing memory.
Yet you cannot so much as speak three words of Spanish.
You have just been outed as a fraud, bucko.
I have been informed of posts on other sites by people using the name bayourod but they are not me.
No. I owned Italian pizzarias. Drop by your local Dominoes or Pappa Johns and see how many of their employees speak only Spanish. Ask how many of their delivery drivers don't have drivers licenses or insurance.
The anti-illegals crowd doesn't seem to grasp the concept of facts. Everything in feelings, emotions and personal attacks.
I'm not concerned with other Bayourods, just the "character" who posts here at FR.
However, you apparently discussed about on many websites. Some of these sites have bookmarked and copied your outrageous quotes, complete with the links back to FR.
You cannot run from your own words.
Yes, I was told 52 different sites on one day. I've been told that some of the white supremacists sites have actually encouraged their members to register on FreeRepublic just to attack me.
I don't visit those sites; don't care what they say, and out of respect for FR never mention any of the other forums that I do frequent.
Now your talking BS. I order pizza literally all the time from Papa Johns and Pizza Hut and have NEVER seen a hispanic driver....EVER (unless my memory is bad.)
Well now maybe you can understand why I didn't have hundreds of Hispanic employees and how I could have owned restaurants without speaking Spanish. DUH!
Using the link in reply #224, I believe you. I know you'd NEVER be a "American for LEGAL immigration."
But you claim only hispanics that are here illegally will wash dishes or pick fruit.

Read the above post. Bayourod is a troll.
I never hired anyone who didn't speak English. I wouldn't even be able to interview someone who didn't speak English. I've never had a sign or ad that said we speak Spanish. I've never advertised in Spanish publications or had a Spanish menu.
I'm still waiting for examples of where I've claimed to have hired hundreds of Hispanics or where I claim to "care so much about Hispanics".
So you claim never to have hired an illegal to the best of your knowledge, YET, you also claim on a regular basis that America needs illegals to work in the restaurants, as no Americans want those jobs. Pick one or the other.
I'm still waiting.
How about the times you write things like, "They're just hardworking men trying to feed their families." That sounds pretty "compassionate" to me.
By the way, I'm waiting as well for a few answers:
1) Do you consider yourself a Republican first, American second?
2)) How do you live in a city with a 40% Hispanic population and have no close Hispanic friends? Do you accidentally befriend the light-skinned ones, then cut them off when you find out their heritage?
"Every person I have hired has provided Social Security, driver's license and insurance information. I have never had any reason to suspect that any documents have been forged."
That does not mean a darn thing.
" Have you ever asked INS or CBP to check your employees IDs to verify that they aren't forgeries? Have your employers run an immigration background investigation on you everytime you have been hired?"
Yes and yes, always done background checks, and always had them done on me except when I worked as a teenager.
"I can't wait until the third party presidential debates in 2008 when someone presents facts to disprove Tancredo's myths and he responds by accusing them of being "illegal immigrant lovers" or some other childish personal insult."
Many people are - the people who hire them, for example. They love having labor that they don't have to treat like humans. THAT IMHO is the real insult!
Show me where I've claimed that America needs illegals to work in restaurants. It shouldn't take you more than ten minutes to find some posts since you say I claim it on a regular basis.
Don't you people have any personal pride or self esteem?
Oh, that's right. I forgot that the antis consider "compassionate" to be a dirty word.
I can't fathom what life must be like for people who have no compassion for others. They would have to live in a very tiny isolated universe in which the only value is self aggrandizement. Even sponges have that much sentience.
