I am freaking speechless. This is like concentration camp victims in Dachau and Auschwitz wearing ribbons to express solidarity with the Nazis who were being bombed in Dresden.

One thing that became apparent very quickly after the London bombings was the very real sense of isolation felt by Muslims and other minority faiths. Yeah, right, the Hindus don't want a little Muslim crackdown.

This is the from the city's own
website, I kid you not:
Earlier this week, and not for the first time, Nottingham was vilified as the gun crime capital of the UK, the most violent place in Britain and Assassination City. Nottingham is none of these things and Nottingham does not deserve this reputation. Nottingham does have crime problems, just like many other cities in this country and no one is denying that some of these problems are extremely serious and challenging.
It sounds like Detroit without the charm.

Ping for some perspective for us Yanks. I looked up the stats, BTW, and the census said that this is not an overwhelmingly Muslim county, about 1-2%, which is not at all what I was expecting from this article.
What's the city like?

Wouldn't Red White and Blue ribbons to show solidarity with the peaceable British people they are supposed to protect be more appropriate. I guess that would be Jingoist and not PC.
If it must be something green, how about this, applied to a tender part of the Jihadi?

A POLICE chief has ordered his force to wear green ribbons to show solidarity with Muslims who fear persecution after the bomb attacks in London. Steve Green, the Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire, wants the public as well as his 4,000 officers to wear the Good Faith Ribbons and has bought 20,000 for £2,000. Announcing the campaign, which starts today, Mr Green...You know what they say. It ain't easy bein' green.
