Mine likes to "dance" when you play music or sing to him, but if I tried to dress him up in a costume I'm afraid I would be minus a few fingers.

See my post #202 and you can watch the video. There was a special on CMT last night that had an interview with the family of Patrick Ray Nixon, whose picture and headstone are in the video near the end. Pretty special.

Just what the doctor ordered . . . a new column from PEGGY NOONAN:

BOOKENDS
WHY THE BASE -- AND SOME OUTSIDE IT -- ARE STANDING BY PRESIDENT BUSH
By Peggy Noonan

In New York right now the sun is soft, not searing; the humidity just high enough that you feel like you're walking through pleasantly warm gelatin as you walk along the streets. A good time for a general political overview, I say. Let's start with the Bushes.

President Bush is under pressure from various parts of his constituency, but there is little sign he's noticed. Among conservatives there is rising frustration over immigration, government spending and the gradual, slow-mo, day-by-day redefining of what modern conservatism is and what the Republican Party stands for that has taken place during the Bush presidency. That is in fact the big, largely unspoken fact of the Bush presidency.

. . . But while Republicans are on the verge of a great struggle, the president continues to be supported and appreciated among the Republican base. I have talked to all kinds of Republicans this summer, and for all their questioning, the base is his.

How could this be? How could the reason for a coming party battle--George W. Bush himself--be the continuing object of unified party support?

You can read the rest of the story at
http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110007087

BTW: Peggy still refuses to acknowledge the MAIN reason "the base" loves President George W Bush: He's a man of deep religious faith who 'walks his talk' with unabashed conviction and courage!! [As we learned after the President's inaugural speech, Peggy gets a little nervous when 'God' is mentioned more than one or two times a speech!]

There was a cat my sister had -she's much more of a cat person- and he was a natural born comedian. He loved humans to pieces but didn't much want anything to do with other animals. She had 2 or 3 other cats while they had him, he didn't mind the one who was there first but he teased the others unmercifully. My parents had a german shepherd and he tried to punch her out-- he'd stand on his back legs and it looked like he was boxing! He couldn't hurt her because all my sister's cats had claws removed (because she didn't discipline them IMO). Cats are so funny!

hope you enjoyed the collection of baby photos I put up

On yes, I sure did. They are very soothing and sweet and meaningful on a day when that Sheehan woman's antics are raising my Irish-English-Italian temper. Plus I heard an exquisite song for the first time today that pays tribute to our military buried in Arlington National Cemetary. The contrast between that song and Sheehan's behavior could not be more stark. So thanks so much for the babies.

Oh now you did it WOlf, I cannot see the screen.

Have you heard the song? The words are powerful, but put together with music and Adkins' deep, resonant voice...it's amazing.

What a fine collection of handsome, strong men Condi gets to hang around with! I'm especially struck by how great Rumsfeld looks for a man his age. He is remarkable, and we are so blessed to have him where he is. Don't forget to pray for all of them and our troups every day.

Annual events are great - something to look forward to. Especially if they're at a nice place and everyone is relaxed.
