SUNRISE -- Police seized 2 ounces of marijuana at the home of Anthony Diotaiuto after shooting him 10 times, according to information on the drug raid released Tuesday.
Also Tuesday, while many friends and relatives of the 23-year-old bartender and student mourned him at a Davie funeral home, others appeared at a Sunrise City Commission meeting to demand an explanation for the fatal raid
"Do 2 ounces of marijuana constitute a death warrant?" asked Sunrise resident William de Larm, a friend of Diotaiuto's.

"Grabbed a gun says it all".
It's better to be in prison unjustly than get killed for making the supreme mistake of grabbing a gun when you are being arrested.

So you think that 2 oz of MJ deserves the death penalty by cops by being shot ten times?

Just so that all of the "heads" out there "get it", Why don't you read the news about what happened in Baton Rouge yesterday. Those officers knocked on the door and it got one of them killed by a piece of Cr#p ". If I'm point on any entry and a person fails to comply with my orders and makes motion to grab a weapon, I'll eliminate that threat with lethal force. I'm not going to let anything endanger my team from going home to their wives and children! Guns in the hands of criminals are my reason to practice, practice, practice!

I agree. However, I wonder why they thought "Special Weapons And Tactics" were necessary. Because he had a CCW?I don't know. I just found out from reading the thread that they'd done a controlled buy from the guy (so now we definitely know he was dealing.) Maybe he'd bragged about "I'll shoot the cops if they ever come for me" or some such. Who knows?
Maybe they wanted to try out a new tactic (maybe some new room clearing technique or something like that) in what they thought would be a *low* threat raid. Who knows?
Like I said earlier, I think I would've been more tempted to snag him in the parking lot right as he left work, but that's just me.

Utter stupidity, incompetence, and lack of investigation by lazy-ass showboating SWAT team. Perhaps they were facing budget cuts and needed to put on a show.
The police should be going after real drug dealers. Not kids living with mom, selling nickle bags to friends. I think the cops are too chicken shit to go after the big drug dealers selling meth, crack, coke and heroin

How about a little info to backup that statement? Just how many peace officers were convicted of planting guns in the last year?

as usual the media is cutting out the part of the story which this "victim" was probably either on probation OR had such a long record that a mandatory jail sentence was in the works. I like how you can just make up a "he deserved it" justification out of your imagination. The other story on the incident says that he'd never been arrested, and the undisputed fact that he had a valid Florida CCW permit would seem to point to the fact that he had a clean record.

Kinda proves the point that going after people IN THEIR HOMES is one of the dumbest ideas law enforcement has had this century. From Ruby Ridge, to Waco, to these recent travesties. All could have been avoided if you idiots would have waited for them to LEAVE HOME.
If your political masters ever succeed in making my now legal firearms "illegal", it'll take more than practice to save your ass.

Simple reasons for simple minds. This guy was a dealer in possession of a firearm. I suppose we are supposed to expose ourselves and rely on the honor of criminals eh? Do you understand what context means?

You do sound like a typical LEO, though. Shoot first, sort it all out later. Heaven forbid, even considering that the LEO's could make a mistake... Oh, please. If you'd read all my comments on this thread you'd find I'm hardly the "LEOs can do no wrong" variety.
