Good numbers for the challenger this far out.

Interesting.
I'd love to see some of the internals (geography, gender, etc) but all in all, it looks good.
I wonder what the numbers would have been if they had matched up Dino Rossi against Cantwell?

what do you expect from a communist state. I would expect an incumbent Democrat to be over 55% and have a comfortable polling lead against a relative unknown. That isn't the case here, so your Communist description may need a bit of tweaking.

Cantwell could bend a fresh biscuit on the desk in the Oval Office and rise 10 points in the polls in Wa. State.
I have lived here all my life and can say the only place in the country that MIGHT be worse is San Francisco. Seattle has a statue of Lenin for crying out loud.

Agreed, these are good figures for McGavick -- or rather weak ones for Cantwell.
This was a media-sponsored poll, yes?

1. Patty Murray brings home the bacon.
2. Mary "Milf" Cantwell brings home the grease.
Voters prefer bacon to grease, so Cantwell is vulnerable.

The race is definitely on the map, though Cantwell starts out with the edge. I think McGavick has potential. This may be The Revenge Of Slade Gorton.

Strategic Vision is a Republican-oriented polling firm. Still, I don't think they're paying the firm to lie to them.

I'm keeping this race on my radar screen, along with Minnesota's and Florida's Senatorial races. I'm not giving to the RNSC this year, but am targeting my donations to specific races.

I saw no mention of this poll's client, although SV tends to have GOP clients in general (IIRC). I think they have loosened that up a bit lately.
a three-day poll of registered voters in the state of Washington. Results are based on telephone interviews with 800 registered voters in Washington, aged 18+, and conducted August 5-7, 2005. The margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points.

Wow:
4. If the Election for Governor in 2008 was between the Democrat Christine Gregoire and the Republican, Dino Rossi, whom would you vote for?
Christine Gregoire 39%
Dino Rossi 55%
Undecided 6%

Well, considering the PRW's last election cycle and the outcome for governor, Cantwell could be losing by 12% and still manage to find the votes to win at the last minute. She need not worry, the Dems will certainly find enough votes stuck in the machines and forgotten in the basement of the of someones house to carry her over the top.

Then I stand by my statement that it is a communist state. That's great. So you're still wrong.

This is going to be a screwed up race and I fear Cantwell will safely navigate the minefield and prevail. The grassroots don't like the way McGavick is being promoted from the top down. Kinda like a coronation.
I'm convinced McGavick will have at least two primary challengers.
