The email is from Cherie Quarterolo, who is speaking for the family and is Casey Sheehan's godmother. The email, with the statement contained, follows:

In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue:
Sheehan Family Statement:
The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Bless that family for releasing that statement. Aside from their grief, they have the public embarrassment of Cindy's increasingly bizarre statements to deal with.

I think a certain level of naivete is also part of this. There is a significant portion of the "Conservative" movement who do not seem to grasp to what levels of utter intellectual and moral depravity the Political Left is willing to sink to to promote their "holy" agenda. My illusions about them were shattered watching the 2002 "Wellstone Memorial" service.
While I understand that I also believe that this woman is exhibiting some characteristics of grief syndrome.
Even though she was opposed to Bush prior to her son's death, she has now taken it to another level, and is using her anger over the death of her son drive her (classic grief step).
Do not misread me, I think the whole thing is despicable, but were it not for the radical leftwing organizations who have taken her into their fold, she would be a mother sitting at her house angry and mad about the death and lashing out at her family. Now that they have supplied her with an audience, she can lash out at someone she hated prior to the death, in public.
