I agree. That's a hoot.

Like taking a poll to find out if water is wet.

The Clinton Characters will leave a stain on the Democratic Party for a very long time. Not many people want public officals in office that 1. are being charged with "white water crap" 2. have questionable coharts thrown in jail 3. being stupid enough to get caught having oral sex with interns. 4. having folks murdered (can you say Brown and Foster + a variety of others 5. Hey, how about lying under oath??? Is dealing with all of the above and more worth any of out time and should we put our GREAT country in the hands of those types of people very smart? NOT

these attitudes were most powerfully captured in symbolic issues such as display of the Ten Commandments in public buildings, removing God from the Pledge of Allegiance, or outlawing public manger displays at Christmastime. On each of these symbolic cases in point, there was a broad perception that Republicans would be on the side of American tradition, Judeo-Christian values, and the forgotten majority while Democrats would stand up and fight for a subversive minority seeking to erode the moral foundation of our country.

And some folks here thought people of faith would fall for the lies coming out of the Democrat mouths since the election.

Hillary Clinton will be handling snakes by the time the election rolls around.

And speaking in tongues!

And speaking in tongues!

Well Hillary has been speaking with a fork-tongue for years, although I doubt that is a gift from the Holy Spirit.

You're right that Rudy is pro-choice, and you're right that he has a failed marriage. But patriciaruth, I hope TO GOD you're wrong that he's a non-starter in Republican Presidential politics.

He believes in God and he believes in our country - and he WILL NOT be pushed around on the world or national stage. He can beat Hillary easily - so if the alternative is another Clinton presidency, Rudy's my guy.

And Rudy's not a poll-watcher, either. I remember when he first became Mayor of New York, one of his first actions was to REFUSE to meet with the Reverend Al and his posse after a supposed "racial incident" at a mosque, because, obviously, they had absolutely no standing - and he wasn't afraid to say so. It was then that I knew we had a man of character, who would stick to his guns in the face of the hysterical liberal media.

Of course, you could argue that my priorities reflect my background, and I would accept that, but I am so afraid of this party splitting over this issue....

Can you name me a viable candidate in the "George W. Bush" mold? Not with the name-recognition and credentials of Rudy, I'm afraid. I think, IMHO, that it takes a Rudy to beat a Hillary.

If the Christian voter is betrayed by the Republican Party and stays home on election day, the Republican Party is finished. The secular libertarian Republicans better embroider that on a sampler so they don't forget it.

Can he win the primaries if the pro-life and family values half of the party vote for someone else?

Can he win the general election if the pro-life and family values half of the party stays home?

I am asking this seriously, not rhetorically.

If Rudi convincingly moderated his positions on abortion and pro-life, he might stand a chance at the nomination.

Rudy may lose 2-5% of the far right vote because of this, but he will pick up huge numbers in the center and slightly left. He has a lot of respect from moderate democrats who have seen what he did with NYC, choosing between him and Hillary I think he will pull a lot of them with him from the left, far more than we will lose from the right.

We're talking primaries here. Yes, he has a shot if he gets to the general election.

But the question is if he could survive the primaries and get enough votes at the convention for the nomination.

The convention is not 2-5% committed prolife, it is MUCH higher. And from their emotional view (and my intellectual view) God is not "far right". He is simply right.
