Kind of what I said,(see #216) just man Adams said it soooooo much better than me..."<

Our founding fathers certainly had a way with words, didn't they?

"Amtrak has an Autotrain that runs from Washington D.C. suburbs down to the Orlando FL area non-stop. It leaves at ~4pm and gets there in the morning sometime."

I googled "autotrain" and found that it was a private company until 1980. Something like that would sound more useful to me, transporting people with their cars like an extension of the highway system, rather than moving people from downtown to downtown of major cities. It seems to me like Amtrak is trying to impose a 19th century travel model upon the 21st century.

I think Buchanans moment has passed, he tried to be different in too many areas, if he had just focused on trade and immigration policy he might have done better. He wrote a book titled "A Republic, not an Empire" just before he ran in 2000 that hurt him, explaining the history of the "America First" movement in WW2.

He later wrote one titled "Death of the West," that one was dead on. Yesterday someone posted an article here he wrote about bombing cities, I could not even see what point he trying to make, more like he just churned out something to meet a deadline. Mostly a bunch of quotes, I honestly do not know what he was trying to say?

IMO the best guy I see is Representative Duncan Hunter from California although I've never heard of him expressing any interest in a run for the White House. I think the RINO's will ram John McCain down our throats, and the Bushbots of today will become the McCainiacs of 2008.

I vote for individuals, not a political party.

+++What if your "individual" is blocked by having an opposing party control the House or the Senate?

I support principled candidates who pledge to reduce the size of the federal government.

_____That is a principle of libertarianism, not conservatism necessarily.

If that happens to be a Republican, then I will vote for him or her.

_____No matter what other views they have?

But I will no longer donate my hard earned money to an "ineffectual party" that after over 5 years of control has still done NOTHING to end the progressive federal income tax system,

___It's certainly been on Bush's
agenda, but there's that little problem called the War on Terror.

or curb the growth of the Federal government bureaucracy, among other things.
You are free to do otherwise, if you so choose

____You object to having a Dept of Hoeeland Security?

"Supply-side tax cuts would be eenough. No Dem ever would have proposed it."

We also got a lot of what we don't want. Bigger govt, a botched occupation of Iraq (I wish they'd just let the soldiers do their jobs!), more funding for so-called "arts", illegals running through virtually un-opposed to the point that average citizens have to start doing the govt's job for them...it's just been pitiful. The GOP has been quite lucky that the Dems have continued to be stupid by putting ultra-liberal idiots up against their opponents.

"It's certainly been on Bush's agenda, but there's that little problem called the War on Terror. "

That is the problem, we are in a war and he has yet to identify who attacked us. Nazi Germany invaded Poland in 1939, using the blitzkrieg, Britain did not declare war upon blitzkrieg, she declared war upon Germany. Japan struck us at Pearl Harbor using aircraft carriers, we did not declare war upon aircraft carriers, we declared war upon Japan.

Radical Islam used terror as a tactic against us, and we declared war upon the tactic rather than the enemy who employed the tactic. The IRA, ETA, Tamil Tigers and a host of other groups employ terror, but not against us. Radical Islam employed terror against us, we should not refrain from employing terror against Radical Islam, like Patton employed blitzkrieg against Germany.

We have the means, the same means that LeMay, Spaatz and Eaker employed, by national leadership that knew who the enemy was and had the will to win. Will that is lacking today, judging by the hand wringing over terrorists having panties on their heads. In my book, if that sort of humiliation breaks the will of the enemy, who is not entitled to POW status, the only question is if "Victoria's Secret" or "Fredericks of Hollywood" panties are more effective.

You guys can post all "mind if I open up a can of whoopass?" photos you want, but I'd feel a lot better to see the glove come off and stop fighting a PC war. Reinstating a good man like Lt. Colonel West would be a good first step. My TI at Lackland AFB loved to quote Vince Lombardi, "winning isn't everything, its the only thing!" Dubya should get the same spirit.

In "On War" Clausewitz' wrote "War therefore is an act of violence to compel our opponent to fulfil our will." PC war saps our will, using the enemies chosen weapon of terror will sap their will when we return the full measure and more. Much, much more. Radical Islam sowed the wind on September 11th, time to reap the whirlwind.

To return to your original post:

Reagan was President, G.H.W. Bush was Vice President and G.W. Bush was the natural leader who men followed.

Reagan was the natural leader who men followed.

To deny this, or to seek to (even inadvertently) diminish his legacy, makes you a troll.

"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall !"

A wall was only a temporary solution--the real problem was the corrupt Soviet system.

So too on our Southern border, a wall is a temporary solution--the real problem is the hell-hole of corruption with no opportunity that is Mexico.

IF MEXICO PROVIDED OPPORTUNITY FOR ITS OWN CITIZENS (the same can be said of many other places worldwide) there would be no "need" to dump them on the US.

How many Japanese immigrate illegally compared to how many Mexicans? And if you answer, "the Pacific Ocean gets in the way" substitute "Canadian citizens" for "Japanese citizens" and try again.

And you still have done nothing to reply to the quote by Jim Robinson.

You remain a troll.

I agree, but has any Repub managed to win the nomination without the support of the NRA? I could easily see the NRA siding with Hunter against the anti-gun McCain if he were to make a try and that would put considerable power behind him.

IMO the best guy I see is Representative Duncan Hunter from California although I've never heard of him expressing any interest in a run for the White House. I think the RINO's will ram John McCain down our throats, and the Bushbots of today will become the McCainiacs of 2008.

I don't know much about Hunter but I do hope a true conservative emerges for 2008. The names that are being bandied about at this early date don't do much to assuage my fears. I share your disdain for McCain but I think you'd be surprised by how many so called Bushbots would never, ever support a McCain candidacy. I don't think the base would support him or Giuliani.

That said, unless a viable conservative candidate arises, we may be forced to make a choice between Hitlery and a RINO. This predicament would be a nightmare because it would offer a 3rd party candidate the opportunity to swing votes from a disgruntled conservative base. Of course, this would only help deliver to us the worst of all possible options.

I've heard positive things about George Allen but don't know much about him other than he is a former governor of a southern state, a current senator and personality challenged. I had high hopes for Bill Owens but he couldn't quit shooting himself in the feet. Unfortunately, he's no longer a factor.

So many people vote based on the 'likability factor' that it has to be considered no matter who you support. I support Bush when he deserves it and not when he doesn't. It is undeniable though that having Bush in the White House is a blessing when one considers where we might be had Gore or Kerry been elected.

This tiny fringe has absolutely zero effect on the GOP because they were never part of the GOP and the vast majority of these idiots do not vote Republicans, but the Republican party is keep winning again and again and again. It is always a pleasure to see liberals and "people" like you getting all bitter and angry when the Republican party is winning all these elections and President Bush is getting his many victories. We will be enjoying this for many years to come and you will be an angry and bitter people for many years to come.

Unfortunately Harder was often wrong on facts however, and he had odd personal preferences tainted by his acceptance (non) by the mainstream listener and more importantly, mainstream commerce in the form of advertisers. That is to say, as his show got older he drifted farther and farther from the mainstream which became self marginalizing.

His message often came across loud and clear on some issues but wrong-sided on others where he spoke to the society's loser and those who fell and wouldn't get back up. I suspect however Chuck is/was a good guy and for a time he was good to listen to on occasion for an interesting perspective.

In the end however, Perot used him quite effectively, and we got Clinton for his troubles.
