Jagger Says Song Not an Anti-Bush Tirade (MICK STARTS DANCIN' BACKWARDS)

The Rolling Stones' upcoming album contains a song seemingly critical of President Bush, but Mick Jagger denies it's directed at him, according to the syndicated TV show "Extra."

"It is not really aimed at anyone," Jagger said on the entertainment-news show's Wednesday edition. "It's not aimed, personally aimed, at President Bush. It wouldn't be called 'Sweet Neo Con' if it was."

The song is from the new album, "A Bigger Bang," set for release Sept. 6. There is no mention of Bush or Iraq. But it does refer to military contractor Halliburton, which was formerly run by Vice President Cheney and has been awarded key Iraq contracts, and the rising price of gasoline.

"How come you're so wrong? My sweet neo-con, where's the money gone, in the Pentagon," goes one refrain.

The song also includes the line: "It's liberty for all, democracy's our style, unless you are against us, then it's prison without trial."

"It is certainly very critical of certain policies of the administration, but so what! Lots of people are critical," Jagger told "Extra."

A representative for the Stones said the group had no further comment about the song.

The Rolling Stones intend to kick off a U.S. tour in Boston Aug. 21.

Alice Cooper could be Secretary of State.

That would work for me. He could go to the UN and sing "No More Mr. Nice Guy."

Saw them in the mid 80s and really don't remember much beyond feeling most of us (including the band) were too old to be there, and this was when I was "only" 28!

Maybe after this the Stones will appear exclusively on PBS fundraisers, with the rest of the Wheezer Geezers.

Two hookers were discussing servicing the Stones.

"And how did Mick Jagger taste, Sweety?"

"Depends, darlin'."

Nick try Mick. I still won't go see you in concert nor buy your new album. The rolling stones have more wrinkles than Sharpei {sp} dogs. Here is a stones group photo.

Country music fans are the type to get all hot and bothered if a country music star criticizes the President.

Rock fans are not.

Broad generalization but I think accurate.

If you like their music, this won't turn you off to the Stones. Épater le Bourgeois is an age-old pose these guys have taken for decades.

Most of the Rock Fans who were around when the Stones started, are Country music fans now. I personally played their stuff as well as Beatles in a Rock Band when they came out.

Also, for reference purposes, my wife and I have tickets to see Paul McCartney when he plays in town this October.

I suspect that the Older Rock Fans spend lots of money and should not be discounted so quickly. Your mileage and Jagger's may differ but I doubt it.

Rock On! Ride Hard and Far!

Yeah, but we're havin' a REALLY GOOD TIME!

The popular music recorded between 1967 and 1972 was far and away the best music I've ever heard---heck, my kids like it better than the music of their own youth. Mick should forget the politics and stick to "romance".

------and COTTON bell bottoms were "real hip"!

My reply to good old Mick..

To the tune of Brown Sugar.. :)

Wrote bad music bound for US shores,
Sold in liberal markets to the media whores.
Scarred old Jagger mustn't be too bright.
Watch his career halting just like a red light.

Ah Bush basher how come your heads like wood
(a-ha) Bush basher, you just misunderstood.
A-huh.

Senior citizen trying to rock and roll.
Trying to impress us but he's just too old.
Jagger thinks that he can bash the right.
Watch his career halting just like a red light.

Ah Bush basher how come your heads like wood
(a-ha) Bush basher, you just misunderstood.
A-huh.

I bet your mama was a moonbat queen, and all her boy
Friends were like Howard Dean.
He's no schoolboy and his hair is white,
Watch his career halting just like a red light.

Ah Bush basher how come your heads like wood
(a-ha) Bush basher, you just misunderstood.
A-huh.

I said bash, I said bash, I said bash, I said
Oh just like a, just like a moron would.

I said bash, I said bash, I said bash, I said
Oh just like a, just like a moron would.

Man, I hope you're joking. The station I listen to just expande their format from 1954-1964 to 1954-1970 and it's certainly not for the better; Gerry and the Pacemakers, Bobby Goldsboro, Marilee Rush, Pet Clark, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, etc. It's not real good.

I stand corrected. Let me restate my comment-"The best music I've ever heard was recoreded between 1967 and 1972" I agree that the stuff you mentioned was very lame. How about the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zepplin, Bob Dylan, Steppenwolf, Pink Floyd..........?
