A pro-troops/pro-Bush rally will be held this Saturday in Crawford, Texas by Killeen radio station KLFX 107.3 FM and sister station KWTX 1230 AM.
The rally will begin at noon and will be held at a parking lot next to the Crawford Bank. Free hamburgers and sodas will be given away until supplies are exhausted.
A spokesman for KLFX said that those who are calling this an anti-Cindy Sheehan rally are wrong. The station wanted to have an event to offer a means for the public to show their support for the troops serving at nearby Fort Hood and their commander-in-chief in contrast to the antiwar/anti-Bush protesters descending on Crawford this week.
The station says the free cookout is meant to tweak the leftist 'hunger-strikers' in Crawford, not make fun of Cindy Sheehan.
There is one other aspect that should be addressed as well. No, I don't condone wild-eyed ranting or running naked through the streets in the name of a cause BUT I don't have any problem being impolite or abrupt when faced with an opposing force nor will I be cowed when facing a superior number.
What was I supposed to think? You asked for a "temp agency" in the immediate vacinity and stated that you would be willing to pay someone "$8.00 an hour." That kind of wage would barely get you a "warm body," and now you are insinuating that you would have standards for that person. Forgive me when I question whether those two ideas are competing.
I realize you are being at least mildly hyperbolic, but please don't forget about what YOU posted that I was simply responding to.
I have to work this Saturday, or I'd be there. For some reason it seems like every time there's something FR related I have to work-perhaps it's a plot by my Dimmy Deaniac Boss.
Started that old habit up again? We'll miss y'all.
We'll just have to keep it quiet next time.
Agree. You have FReepmail
BRAVO!!!! FReep the traitors and support our troops & our President!
From tonight's Drudge Report (8/11/05):
FAMILY OF FALLEN SOLDIER PLEADS: PLEASE STOP, CINDY!
Thu Aug 11 2005 12:56:21 ET
The family of American soldier Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004, has broken its silence and spoken out against his mother Cindy Sheehan's anti-war vigil against George Bush held outside the president's Crawford, Texas ranch.
The following email was received by the DRUDGE REPORT from Casey's aunt and godmother:
Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish.
Thanks, Cherie
In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:
The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.
Sincerely,
Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

Yep. And she's also an American citizen mocking the Commander-in-Chief and our military's mission during a time of war. The troops need - no, WANT - to see public support.
I could make the same arguments about us mean ol' conservatives at Walter Reed, picking on those poor defenseless women dressed up in purty pink, just innocently wanting to bring our boys and girls home. I can assure you that the military personnel and the large majority of cars driving by do not share that concern.
Superdiscounted airfares available all over the country to Dallas! Join the FReep if you can!
Eagles Up!!!
Bump for our troops
I'd love to be there, Huber. I read the thread yesterday. The birth of my grandbaby is imminent. While I'm midwifing here, I'm expecting y'all to midwife a wonderful event in Crawford, celebrating progress in Iraq and Afghanistan, and our very precious and wonderful troops and Admin - making Liberty a reality.
Thanks for the ping Huber.
When I read this post I seriously thought about going. But on Sat I'm using the cargo van to help a friend's daughter move to college up in Anderson. From there I'm gonna go hang in the Smokies for 3-4 days.
But I really did think seriously about going.

My son's driving from the East Coast to the West Coast, and is thinking about stopping by Crawford to lend a hand to the support-our-troops effort. Got any suggestions on where to get a room? Or who to check in with?
