Thank goodness that young man has a father and stepmother who honor his memory. His mother is not honoring her son's sacrifice and I don't understand that attitude at all.

"You really SHOULD talk to someone about your obsession with Palestine."

My obsession being that I asked you a question twice, because you would not reply.

Sorry I pointed out that Sheehan said that we were attacked because of Israel being in Palestine.

But that sort of is the subject of the thread. And you said you agreed with her (and thereby Bin Laden and the other jihadists).

But yeah, I'm obsessed. LOL

iconoclast, that's just silly. This thread started with Cindy Sheehan's comments about Israel. Which is the reason we're discussing Israel.

It's so interesting how you can't or won't respond to my two posts to you about just what kind of threat Iraq presented to the United States.

The two posts quoted directly from the 9/11 Commission and Senate Intelligence Committee reports but I can see you don't have the ability to argue on the facts and resort constantly to leftist mantra.

"Perhaps by not getting so involved in the area, we might win more hearts and minds."

If we had not gotten involved Saddam would have Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Sheesh. Are you from this planet?

This is from an earlier article

She turned down a chance to join what she called a ``photo op'' with President Bush on Thursday in Fort Campbell, Ky., where her son's unit -- the 101st Airborne Division -- was honored. Instead, she creates her own ceremonies.

Could you explain to us why the survival of Israel is not of interest to us?

Why do you ask?

Is it your primary concern?

I am also disappointed that OBL's head is not resting uncomfortably on a pike. And while I disagreed with the timing of the Iraq war, I believe it would have been necessary at some point, and that's better to lance a boil sooner rather than later. And as for Israel, I lend it support. I am going to wonder how long people will hold a grudge against Israel for surviving. And it's a democracy. And it's undoubtedly a Western country. And if for no other reason than long-term geo-politics, or supporting our own, I believe America should support Israel's existence.

Now, I can appreciate that some people, many very respectable reasonable people, think Israel does some or many things that are immoral, or unjustified. In fact, I sometimes even agree with them. I don't like all of their policies. But I do know that they exist in a region that wants to literally push their citizens into the sea. That wants nothing more than to kill all those different from them, and that Jews, being a small, but successful, and visible minority are an easy target for resentment and hate.

I also look at the past of that conflict (if you will forgove the momentary diversion), and I think Israel has a good reason for being suspcious and reacting harshly.

However, I agree with you that the decision to bring OBL to justice should have been a primary concern, and a primary goal, and I agree with you that it is disappointing, and I will go farther and say shameful, that we have not done more to pursue him. However, I hope you will agree with me when I say that he is not an isolated case, and that there is a culture of hatred that has spawned him, and that hates the West, and would like nothing better than to topple America, level the West and rebirth the eternal Caliphate. Which I trust you would not like to live under. And I trust you understand that this was growing, even before 9/11. Even before the 2nd Intifada began in 2000. And, in fact, stretches back to 1917 or 1924, depending on how you look at it.

Thus, it is important, if we wish to solve the problem and not slap some placebo balm on the wound that will smell nice, temporairily relieve the pain but not ultimately heal the wound nor cure the festering infection, that we remove the source of the threat. Which is what we are trying to do. Albeit, with different degrees of success. I think we can all agree here that a higher degree of efficiency and success is possible and, obviously, preferable. But I think in general, and once again I speak only for myself, that I would rather America do something, then nothing. And that if it comes to the fall of the West, I would rather go down swinging than lying down. Or having my children growing up in an Islamist suicide cult. Better to die on your feet, than to live on your knees.

Reported by whom? Where are you getting the absolute falsehoods, that you are posting as "facts"?

You don't know what you're talking about, know little history, and understand what you do know, not at all!

Respond to those who post to you, newbie. Ignoring us, makes you look more and more trollish, with each post you make.

Notice the constant theme...me,me,me,me,me,me......

I am sorry her Son was killed, I am. That neither justifies nor validifies her ramblings. I would trade places with him, if it was possible, to erase the hurt.

IMO, her perspective is; she has been brainwashed by the lib left, she lost her Son, and SHE is hurting.

So typical of today's society...it's all about ME!

I suppose in any large group of people, some of them are bound to be leftists. So it is with those serving in Iraq.

What infuriates me is that the media is hiding the associations these leftist survivors have, and are not showing the people who support the war.

It seems to me that those who support the war have as much right to be heard as those who oppose it.

Everything I've read by or about this woman convinces me that she is more than just a little crazy. I think the death of her son made her snap.
Then you've got to read this (Grieving Calif Mother's War Protest Gains Momentum in Crawford) and my reply.
She snapped before he even left for boot camp!
"I said, 'I'll take you to Canada' ...
Now I know the woman is wacked out. There was no need to take her son to Canada as there is no draft and the military is all volunteer. Does she not realize what she is saying and how daft it makes her look?

It's not my primary concern, but it is a concern. As, for example, the survival of Western Europe was a concern during the Cold War. As I said earlier, I don't see why the destruction of Israel is a proper subject for international discussion. I don't hear similar expressions of disdain for, say, Azerbaijan or Zimbabwe.

But I realize your answer is probably: "sure let Israel be wiped off the earth. Why not?" But you're just too shy to say it.

GASP!

Careful Sam, you're creeping perilously close to acknowledging that are troops and our treasury are bleeding for Israel and not for our national interest. I simply said we should have hunted down our enemy and killed him

Your implication that our primary concern must be Israel would be treasonous, wouldn't it?
