BULLETIN >> U.S. FEDERAL DEFICIT SHRINKS TO $53 BLN IN JULY
That's in the table on post #250.
Adds up pretty quick.
This type of thing is one of the reasons you have no credibility, expat. You're just not honest. LS didn't say no money, no debt, he said less money, no debt. Without putting numbers on that, you have no basis for what you are talking about. And then you just go into this "maybe you aren't as fortunate/don't worry, I'll pay the taxes" rap, which doesn't quite go with your screen name. So what's the deal? Are you a US citizen paying taxes and voting or not?
Check out post #237. Maybe that's what he's talking about.
By the way, some of the numbers posted in these threads are utterly fabricated. They always say they are from historical statistics, but only after they've been jimmied a lot with some phoney calculations. If you want to see the size of Reagan's debt per GNP, go to Historical Statistics of the United States. It's a very simple calculation.
"Check out post #237. Maybe that's what he's talking about."
Of course there is trickery in reporting data. It's just a fact.
The truth is that this current government uses the same method as all others before it and still come out with a much smaller deficit than anticipated.
And I think that's what he meant when he said "Bush is taking a page from Clinton's accounting. The gov't accountants can paint any picture for a one month timeframe."
'remember's numbers look legit.
Not according to the numbers I got from historical statistics. Gotta account for things in real dollars, which the U.S. government usually does.
You're quite wrong about the power thing. You and I don't have the power to punish someone for violating a law. Only government has that power.
I hope you're not implying that when the government has more power and more money, that means "we" have more power and more money. I could picture a socialist talking like that, but not a Freeper.
You are wrong. Total tax receipts are at the highest EVER, just not higher as a % of real GDP.
Supply siders once again vindicated.
Bring it on. I don't see you posting any numbers. I just see you talking.
That post really hit the spot for me this morning-- I was in the middle of trying to explain the problems of this Goofy idea (re post 260). Sometimes I think maybe we're just preaching to the choir on this. Anyone who thinks they're better off loosing $100 just to reduce $1 in debt really must have a few screws loose.
The numbers are posted, they just don't follow the story line you're pushing. It's basic economic theory, really.
Perhaps when I said "our", I should have pointed out that the we does not automatically include you. It's an attitude thing.
Maybe you're intimidated by government people that act like they're more powerful than you. I treat them like the hired help they are. When some people see a law get broken, all they do is whine "ain't it awful". When I see someone break the law I make sure the law gets enforced. I prefer the hired help to do their job, but when they screw up I find new employees. If that doesn't work I think harder. Some people are always figuring out ways to be powerless. I prefer to think of ways to amass power and then use my power to protect my family and society.
Like I said, it's an attitude thing.
Then you can easily post them here. We're not talking theory; we're talking actuals. Let's see 'em. I'll wait.
The numbers are posted in the posting YOU referred ME to.
That's what I thought; You've got nothing. The numbers on post #250 show receipts going DOWN every year since GW took office.
This is a pretty active thread and I'm having a hard time keeping up. You'd be doing me a great favor by letting me know when you're posting new stuff-- I am interested. In the mean time I'll just skip through rebuttals from other threads that I've already studied.
I'd bet that there's no way in hell you'd interested in re-reading my recycled counter arguments, so I'll desist.
