CLEARWATER - Michael Schiavo has asked a court to waive the two-year statute of limitations on filing a medical malpractice lawsuit against one or more of his deceased wife's caregivers.
Terri Schiavo, 41, died March 31 after her feeding tube was removed after a seven-year court battle.
Schiavo's attorney in this case, Mark Perenich, said he was not able to discuss the proposed lawsuit behind Tuesday's request for an extension of the two-year statute of limitations.
By law, medical malpractice lawsuits must be filed within two years of the alleged misconduct unless an extension is granted.
In October 2003, Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was removed on court order. Doctors reinserted it on orders from Gov. Jeb Bush.

Again, so predictable...never debate the issue, just attack, attack, attack. It's totally amusing.

I will do the research, but I believe you are wrong. I am the legal guardian of my Mother and I make all her medical decisions. And those decisions are based on things we spoke about when she was of sound mind and body. I know how she felt about life and death and how she would want to live and how she would not want to live. If someone took it on themselves not to respect the legal document we drew up, I'd be pretty damn mad too. In fact, my Mom lives with me and has for six years, She is basically bedridden and she is under hospice care. The first thing hospice asks when they sign you up is if you have a DNR. They told me to put in on the refrigerator. Meaning if paramedics came to the house, they would see the DNR, that's how sacred that document is.

A source with knowledge of the petition, who did not want to be identified, speculated that Michael might be planning to sue the hospice where Terri was being kept at that time for alleged violation of a "Do Not Resuscitate" order he had placed on her medical chart. Michael had asked the court to intervene and block the hospital from treating Terri's infection, but a judge refused the request. If they disobeyed a DNR, that's one thing. But isn't it illegal not to treat an infection? Hadn't he tried to let her die of an infection before and the nursing home HAD to treat her?

private life of posters in a public and caustic way. That is cruel and unusual. Petronski dislikes me, or at least my views, maybe both, very much, I might add, for his own reasons. That is his right. That does not give me license to intrude on his private as opposed to public life. I am quite disappointed. That has to be the most hypocritical statement I've read on FR in some time. People personal lives are always attacked here. I can write a book about the things that have been said about me. But you know what....WHY ON EARTH WOULD I CARE what someone, who I don't have much respect for in the first place, says about me. They don't know me. People here are all full of blustering opinions, but get all weak kneed when they feel they've been personally maligned. WHO CARES, really?

Schiavo is a low life scum out for money. That is all he has ever been about.
Please don't try to equate your personal situation to this scumbag. It just doesn't work.

Hey, YDH! Good to see you around.
So a legal guardian, a court reporter, a Wiffenpoof and s shark were sitting in a bar. Suddenly a wild turkey walks in and says, "Hey, youse guys, what's for dinner?" There was this very.... long... silence. (ba-da-bing! ba-da-boom!)
Thank you! Thank you! Don't forget to tip the bartenders and waitresses!
