"operations are still not expected to start until October" That's the problem with volunteers. They only work in perfect weather. No border security when it's hot or when it rains or on NFL Sundays or during Christmas vacation, or during happy hour, or while Desperate Housewives is on, or during the annual Macy's sale, or....
But that's fine with me if the Buchanan/Tancredo crowd are satisfied with living a fantasy of controlling the border with a handful of elderly grumps who will sit in lawn chairs for one week a year.
