A few soldiers wondered, Do people at home even care?

Well when I saw that comment / question I figured I can lose some sleep and read the entire thing if they have to time to defend my sorry retired butt.

Troops ...we "all care", we care very much regardless of what a MSM agneda tries to make ya'll think. I am really proud of our men and women serving our nation. They are doing an outstanding job and I hope and pray they all get home safe albeit I understand the sacrifices they endure.

I love how they mess with the author of this story..... My EOD troops understand the bounty on em and don't let the dust settle on em. I don't think I have ever seen the quanity of IED's & UXO the current crop of master blasters are encountering in this fight. They are really building a knowledge base for the future EOD troops.

How about a doctoral dissertation on the minimum amount of C4 delivered by robotic vehicles to guarantee a sympathetic detonation 99.44 percent of the time? What about using some of the surplus 122, 130 and 152 mm russian artillery rounds as supplemental charges? If the original IEDs detonated as originally intended, or by EOD's intended C4 disposal, the road still needs repair.

Why isn't ANY of this being covered in the news? I mean, this is a GREAT story. I'm so fed up with the biased press.

Why is there NO effort made by our side (who support the war in Iraq) to tell this side of the story ? Why is the press allowed to put out biased lie after, after biased lie, while NEVER giving the other side, to the point that people are now starting to not support the war effort? Why does this go on unchallenged? Why is the bully pulpit silent?

Why can't president Bush, VP Chenney, Condi Rice, Rummy, or any other representative from our side go on All the liberal talk shows in the main stream media- NBC, ABC, CBS morning and night, and explain what's really going on, and remind people of why we are there?
(many of the "insurgents" are really foreig Al Queda and other radical Muslim at-war-with-the-west factions)

Somone on the radio today went over all the connections between Saddam Hussein's regime and Al Queda- all the Al Queda terrorists who were caught in Baghdad i.e. mastermind of the bombing of the plane over Scottland, Zarchawi(sp?) exc..

While there's no direct Saddam connection to 9/11, there were plenty of connections between his regime and Al Queda operatives. Why is this point not being made on a constant, daily basis? The media operates a 24/7 propaganda machine designed to destroy public support for the war in Iraq. The propaganda has to be constantly countered with the truth, or people start to believe it-"repeat a lie often enough". Haven't the Repubs figured this out by now?

Considering that on 9/11 Al Queda attempted to topple our country, completely destroy it, on every level i.e- financially - WTC attacked(our main financial center), militarily- Pentagon attacked, and our government system would have been attacked- the plane that people fought the terrorists on, crashed in Pennsylvania.. Most likely it was headed for the White House or Congress to take out our government officials. Al Queda is obviously playing for keeps. The democrats are never going to get it.

This article talks about the wonderful concept that "the best defense is a good offense" and its successful implementation in Iraq..

When are the Republicans going to get this message? All they do is cower and play defense to the dems. If they don't grow a spinal column, and get up off their lazy back ends and take on the left, they are going to lose everything they've gained.

So the democrats would have left Saddam in power, let all the Al Queda operatives continue to hide out in Baghdad, and let Hans Bwix and the corrupt-up-to-it's-eyeballs-in-the-Oil-for-Food-scandal UN deal with it? They would have let all the detainees at Gitmo go, probably wouldn't have picked them up in the first place-people like the guy who was planning a nuclear attack, would be loose on the street.

They would apologize to the terrorists for making them so angry that they had to attack us on 9/11.(they have praised Osama for his health and child care programs.) I doubt the dims would have gone into Afghanistan . That would have left Al Queda with all its training camps functional, as well as cooperation and support from Saddam's Iraq.( Nope nothing to worry about with that-sarcasm)

The dems would have let the UN "handle" 9/11 witch would have resulted in the UN writting an upset and angry letter telling Al Queda that the UN is very upset and angry about 9/11. That would be it militarily. Dems in charge on 9/11 would have been a total disaster.

Stop playing defense Republicans, stop letting the media and left undermine our troops - they have taken on a difficult task, made great sacrifices, and our doing a terrific job in Iraq-Don't let leftist media and other BS diminish what they are doing.

Make the democrats defend themselves and their lies, anti-American, anti-military positions,i.e- having Michael Moore- whose propagandist tool-for-the-terrorists movie portrays our military as thugs, and who has stated that the more of our soldiers killed the better, was a guest of honor at their convention.

Make them defend their position that our country should be made weaker, in order to be "fair" and that we deserved 9/11.

Make them defend that their party is now composed of mostly Socialists and out and out Communists (Move On and Jimmy Carters praise of Fidel Castro and Cuba's "health care" system), that their Supreme Court people voted to remove private property rights.

Put them on defense.

This sounds like a good reason to include an Iraqi policeman on every patrol, so he can be handed over to the them for "questioning" according to these rules.

I thought the same thing.

The enemy took the bait. Terrorists came out and started with the AK-rifle-monkey-pump, shooting into the truck, their own video crews capturing the moment of glory. That's when the American snipers opened fire and killed everybody with a weapon.

That made my day. I have a big ol' grin on my face.

In the article, Yon talks about the soldiers wondering if we care back here. Please tell your son he's a hero and we care, so that when he gets over there he can take the message.

Time for me (and everybody who reads this!) to send out some any servicemember mail...go to anyservicemember.navy.mil and tell them how you feel.

Lots of things that "won't" be discussed in open forums of course.....but I have had C-4 laid next to C-4 (3-12 inches) that wasn't in direct contact and it was just a kick out vs the sympathetic detonation one expects it to be. I have also used up to 2 M112 blocks of C (1.25 punds per) to destroy some cast explosives that were in direct contact and all it did was bust a chunk out of the cast UXO.....It is and ain't rocket science.

IMHO one of the best ways to deal with such a large number of suspect items would be to hit em with a special raufauss 50BMG round we used in Desert Storm and other operations. The process was / is called SMUD for small munitions disruption. It is surgical yet one has to expect a frag and detonation safe zone of what they are shooting at vs what they are shooting. Ya start plinking at a Mk 83 gravity bomb ya better be plinking from a feww hundred yards and under cover. Frag is gonna play a major role if the process goes wrong and if it goes right.

Bottom line.......Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) is a science of vauge assumptions, based on debatable figures, taken from inconclusive experiments, performed with instruments of problematical accuracy, by persons of doubtful reliability and questionable mentality..............who pride ourselves with knowing just how much C-4 to shove up a bulls ass to blow his horns off without making his eyes water.......
