Bomb cache found in Iraq believed to be from Iranian Revolutionary Guard: official
AFP via Iran Focus ^ | 2005 Aug 9

WASHINGTON - US intelligence believes that a cache of manufactured bombs seized in Iraq about two weeks ago was smuggled into the country from Iran by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, an intelligence official said Tuesday.

"We believe they came from Iran's Revolutionary Guards," the official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The find is significant not only because of the Iranian connection but also because it indicates manufactured bombs are now being introduced in a conflict that has seen the use of mainly improvised explosive devices.

Rumsfeld Says Weapons From Iran Found in Iraq
Washington Post via Iran Focus ^| 2005 Aug 9

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Tuesday that weapons have been found in Iraq that were "clearly, unambiguously" from Iran and that the weapons would ultimately become a problem for Tehran.

Speaking at a Pentagon briefing with Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Rumsfeld said it was unclear whether the weapons were coming from elements of the Iranian government or from other parties in that country.

"What you do know is that the Iranians did not stop them from coming in," he told reporters. "It's notably unhelpful for the Iranians to be allowing weapons of those types to cross the border," said Rumsfeld. He offered no further specifics on the weapons.

He said the weapons were "a problem for the Iraqi government, for the coalition forces, for the international community and ultimately it's a problem for Iran."

Asked if his comment constituted a threat against Tehran, Rumsfeld said no, and then replied: "They [the Iranians] live in that neighborhood. The people in that region want that situation stabilized, with the exception of Iran and Syria." He made no further mention of Syria.

At the briefing, the Pentagon also announced that Iraqi and U.S. forces have arrested suspects in Haditha, Iraq, in the deaths of 20 U.S. Marines in two incidents last week.

Myers said the arrests showed that Iraqi civilians were against the insurgents and cooperating with the U.S.-led coalition in the country.

"The public came forward and said, 'These are the folks,' " Myers said at the briefing. He did not say how many people had been detained or identify them further.

Only a matter of time...the clock for an Iranian incursion at CENTCOM is ticking down to zero-hour. IMHO.

We have to gather evidence on them so we can attack them with International Law on our side. If the Iranians want to fight a fight they will get. It's time to take out their mad mullahs too.

This is only step one: Make a big noise to the world. Not only does this put pressure on the Iranians, it puts pressure on the Europeans who are getting nice-nice over Iranian nukes to GET SERIOUS here.

What's the problem?
We know who they belong to and It wouldn't be right to keep someone else's property. Return the bombs to their owner ASAP.

I'm begining to think that Mr. Bush is not as tough as he sounds.
The Iranians have crapped on us since that damn peanut farmer was president. With the exception of President Reagan every dope in office has been reluctant to hammer these scum that have been killing us. Why?

Well if these and the clown in Pyonyang were not in power then who would be the boogie man? Why would there be a need for so much spending on defence?

Mr. Bush should have hit Iran so very hard along with Syria that it would have broken to back of insurgency.

Hell, can't or won't protect our borders and won't take out those trying to do us harm. And while we are at it what about Saudi Arabia? Oh, don't worry about them just because they preach death to America and the west. Let's just keep kissing their asses too.

No, No, revenge is best served hot. I'd say about the heat of nuclear weapon would be just fine.
