NEW YORK Apparently it's never to early to speculate on the 2008 race for the White House. Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night had an "Indecision 2008" segment and Gallup just released a new survey on various trial heats. And guess what: Rudy Giulani is in the early lead in the Gallup gallop.
Its most recent survey in late July found the former New York mayor with the highest favorable rating among several top possible choices, at 64%, with Hillary Clinton clocking in at 53%, John McCain at 51% and Sen. John Kerry at just 42%.
Face to face, both Republicans (right now) top Clinton by the same margin, 50% to 45%, and trounce Kerry 54% to 41%.
One problem with Clinton: Her unfavorable rating, at 43%, is nearly twice as high as McCain's, and more than double that for Guiliani. Her favorable rating has remained pretty much at the same level, in the low 50s, for two years.
GOP loyalty for their candidates, at 87%, exceeds the Democrats' 80% level.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Here is the Gallop Poll but you need a subscription:
A majority of Americans have favorable views of three possible presidential candidates for the 2008 election: Rudy Giuliani, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John McCain, with Giuliani rated the most positively of the three. Meanwhile, a fourth possible contender, John Kerry, is viewed more unfavorably than favorably by the American public, a shift since last fall. Trial heat matchups between the four contenders show both Republicans with an edge over both Democratic candidates, with Clinton being the more formidable Democratic foe.
Rudy's not going to be the nominee, though.
Rudy will not be conservative enough for the Right. Most conservatives I know view him as an east coast Republican, which is another way of saying he's a Democrat in disguise. No way can be be nominated.
(There. I said it again.)
Her favorable rating has remained pretty much at the same level, in the low 50s, for two years.

Polls. Food the mentally challenged. OK, ask yourself this. Why would Hitlery have a FAVORABLE rating on anything?? What HAS SHE DONE more favorable than Rudy or even RINO McCain? Favorable in WHAT REGARD?? This is an excellent example of the subjective crap that pollsters generate. And it is baseless hype for the mindless, paid for by whomever hired the pollster.
If anything, if the pollsters actually had people who could think and were not ignorant, take their poll questions, Hitlery would be so low on the scale she would fall out of the poll ---
I give you this. Pick any subject and any outcome you want on that subject, and I will get you the result YOU WANT -- simply by designing the questions and asking those questions of the a very select group of people. Any RESULT YOU WANT. Welcome to polls America. They are a sham.
Odd, how the msm thinks President Bush and us Conservatives are toast.
;)
Keep those hateful remarks and concert blabs coming.
Oh yes, Colleges across America will soon start up, and I am sure the liberal profs are bitting at the bit to get ahold of our young and manipulatable (not sure that is a word) minds!!!
Go Rudy! The only one sure to beat Hillary like a drum!
What is the average IQ of the person who picked Kerry?
Does Rudy support the Right to Keep and Bear Arms? Does he support smaller government (does Bush)? I know he's pro-abortion.
LOL 10 I think!
I am the person with the
ANYWONE BUT HILLARY bumper sticker.
Just kidding....
Gallup is contradicting it's other polls that show "public growing weary of Republicans" and "Democrats favorability rising". If, as in other MSM polls, there is a "backlash against Republicans" then Giulliani and McVain would not be crushing Hillary and Kerry. Whether Giulliani or McCain are worthy of the nomination is a seperate issue. But if these two moderate Republicans are beating the top 2 Dem candidates just imagine what a solid Conservative can do. Yes, name recognition is important but any formidable conservative would be already well known to his/her constituency. This title wave would only rise to mainstream recognition. But of course this is just an opinion of a St. John's University grad.
IF and that's a BIG IF Rudy runs he will let everyone know how he stands. He has been traveling around the country (especially down South where Republicans are strong) and has been listening to what their most important issues are. Rudy has said that he has changed after 9/11 and his cancer. We will see if he has changed. I am willing to listen to what he has to say. I will listen to ALL the Republican candidates very carefully!
Rudy is Hillary.
Anti-gun, pro-abort, pro-gay, pro-open borders.
Never heard of the Constitution.
You'll get Hilllary's policies, except the pubs willl fall all over themselves to enact the agenda.
Better off with the real Hillary.
Rudy:
"I do not think the government should cut off the right to bear arms. My position for many years has been that just as a motorist must have a license, a gun owner should be required to have one as well. Anyone wanting to own a gun should have to pass a written exam that shows that they know how to use a gun, that theyre intelligent enough and responsible enough to handle a gun. Should both handgun and rifle owners be licensed...were talking about all dangerous weapons. "
