WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A retired Army colonel is currently circulating a proposal that would strike down the military's English language fluency requirement and permit Spanish speakers to take the entrance exam in Spanish. According to the Associated Press, retired Army Col. Michael F. Valdez is currently in contact with his Senators and officials at the Pentagon, hoping to have his home state of Oregon as a test location for the project.

Won't happen. But, if it does, the spanish-speaking recruits will be given English training as a requirement for continuing on with military and technical training.

Does mean MS-13 can now be recurited in wholesale into our special forces and go undercover with our Delta Force and that military social actions officers will now cuddle and protect LaRaza meetings on all of our military bases?

OHKie DOHkie then . .

Q: What is the first requirement to win a war?

(Yes - it comes before uniforms, before weapons and ammo, before a code of conduct . .)

Hey - this PROVES you don't have to have a brain to make Colonel!

Yeah. Even in the French Foreign Legion it is required to understand commands in French.

If this proposal to waive the requirement for the English language to enter the armed forces cleared all the political hurdles and you were President for a day and this came across your desk - would you sign it?

Hessians. Janissaries.

If you have only Spanish speakers in the Green Card Divisions, there would be no problem.

Easy your hysterical hypothetical will never become reality.

Yawn, you guys get so upset about a retired Colonel seeking some publicity.

One should read the entire article: I concur with Mauro E Mujica, who said:

"I am sure that Col. Valdez's proposal is well meaning, but it is profoundly misguided,"

Oh, wonderful, just what the military needs. Soldiers that cannot understand commands and training in the English language. F-ing IDIOT !!!!

Get used to it. The way they're swarming across the borders and breeding once they get here, the Spanish speakers will be the majority in 15 - 20 years and the Anglos will have to make the language accommodations.

I hope the military still requires Legal immigrant status before you can join.

Maybe they do and maybe they don't. It's an interesting article.

Illegals in the Military
March 1, 2004

An article in The Denver Post on Feb. 24 [2004] stated that the U.S. military does not know the citizenship status of 16,031 active-duty military personnel...

In a recent article ("The Illegal Immigration Threat," DefenseWatch, Jan. 14, 2004), I talked about a 19-year old illegal alien who used a bogus green card to enlist in the Army, and how the Army was going to help facilitate getting him citizen status. (The Army's efforts did result in that soldier being sworn in as a U.S. citizen.) The Denver Post article reported:

"[T]he citizenship of 16,031 members of the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines is listed as 'unknown.' That's about one in 100 active-duty military members who might be U.S. citizens, legal immigrants - or just about anybody else."

"U.S. military officials say they are shoring up defenses against illegal immigrants and others who may misrepresent themselves and join the armed services."

"The Army has the highest number of unknowns - 9,055. The Navy has 6,531, the Air Force 444, the Marines one. Overall, 1,366,032 U.S. citizens and 35,662 legal immigrants serve in the U.S. military."

"The case of an Army private from Mexico, who enlisted using a fake green card and then served in Iraq, suggests some of the unknowns could be illegal immigrants. The military has no set procedure for handling these cases. U.S. congressional leaders are looking into the matter ... Some experts see a security risk. Military officials say they've had few problems so far, but the 9/11 terrorist attacks raised concerns."

No kidding! Scenario. In a critical combat situation an officer gives an order in Spanish. How many soldiers would be standing around looking at each other wondering what was going on as the enemy takes aim. Chaos. The reverse is also true, which is why all military people need to speak English. A 'bilingual' army is a clear and present danger to the military mission and to the safety of military personnel. This guy needs to be stopped dead in his tracks.

Hasn't the Navy accepted Spanish-speaking Puerto Ricans in the past? They would then send them to English language school after enlisting. I don't know if they still do this. They certainly did in the 80s.

OK then you should know the answer to this question:

Q: Is it true that General Pershing used 'extreme methods' in the story about the pigs?

I can't tell you for a fact because the issue never came up before my father passed in 1974. He was with Pershing down in Mexico and then with him in France in WWI. The pig/Muslim business supposedly occurred in the Philippines.

I know when I was in the Air Force we had some legal immigrants in our squadron. They were all working towards citizenship and many made it. I just presumed a legal status in this country would be required before any background checks could be conducted for classification purposes.
