"I have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer, and am currently undergoing treatment," Reeve said. "I have an excellent team of physicians, and we are optimistic about my prognosis."

"My family and I deeply appreciate the care and concern of our friends and supporters and trust that everyone understands our need and desire for privacy during this time. I hope before too long to be sharing news of my good health and recovery.

I'm saddened by this news. She stood by Christopher through thick and thin and now this. She has had her mountains to climb.

Poor lady. Some people sure do seem to get more than their share of hardships.

This woman was either manipulated by, or was the willing accomplice of, the abortion industry.

So sorry to hear that....
I have nothing but admiration for anyone who stands by and cares for another.

She coulda walked, but she stayed. She has my prayers now.

Has this family not been through enough! I feel very sorry for her son.

I just heard on the news that she was a non-smoker, lived a healthy lifestyle, did pilates, ate healthy food...

They said her symptoms were a cough and a persistent tickle in her throat for the past few weeks.

Wow.

Some people just have absolutely no luck, so to speak.

God grant her strength. Again.

My grandmother always said that if you didn't have anything nice to say, sometimes not saying anything is the best thing to do.

What does the abortion industry have to do with her getting lung cancer?

He's refering to her advocacy for embryonic stem cell research.

She'll now probably claim that if the government would just fund embryonic stem cell research that her lung cancer could be cured. /sarcasm

RE :"My grandmother always said that if you didn't have anything nice to say, sometimes not saying anything is the best thing to do."

Does that apply to Dana and the nasty things she's said about the Bush administration, or does it only apply to our side?

To that, I reply with two wrongs NEVER make a right.

Last time I checked, she is entitled to her opinion, no matter how misguided and wrong she may be.

...stands by and cares for another...

In that sense she was not his true caregiver as say many of us who take care of our elders for years with hardly any assistance like 24/7 nursing and top of the line equipment.

Money bought his care and money kept him alive a lot longer then most. Sure she was present by his side for many photo ops award shows etc but seriously...she was not with him the night he finally succumbed. She was on the other side of the country tending to her own career which pretty much precluded her from being his caregiver. Having said that I am very sorry she is ill. She is a young women and it is indeed tragic to get cancer. She will also have the money to help her live for a lot longer then most with lung cancer.
