The contraceptive mentality distorts relationships in three ways: it supports instant gratification versus discipline,...

First, we're talking about relations within marriage. As long as the act is not sinful, "instant gratification" is not a sin either.

...it fosters a "have my cake and eat it too" attitude,

Huh? What does this mean in terms of a married couple?

...and it encourages illicit sexual behavior by unmarried (and married) people.

Again--we're talking within a marriage--not just married people.

First, we're talking about relations within marriage. As long as the act is not sinful, "instant gratification" is not a sin either.

But that's exactly what we are talking about. People who can not abstain from sex for a week without falling prey to serious temptation. If that is not a mentality of "instant gratification" (I want it and I want it NOW!), and if this is not a bad attitude to foster, then I don't know what is.

Do you think we should encourage more people in this society to demand what they want when they want it all the time?

Huh? What does this mean in terms of a married couple?

It means trying to have physical pleasure from marital acts while at the same time closing (or attempting to close) off the act from God's gift of creation of new life.

Again--we're talking within a marriage--not just married people.

You are in favor of limiting contraceptives to married people only?

The widespread existence and normalcy of contraceptive use encourages sexually illicit behavior among unmarrieds.
