What if the contraception fails?

Then you trust that the Lord knows what He's doing.

My wife and I were in this position when we married. Due to certain health conditions we were unwilling to risk pregnancy, and we used contraceptions for 7 years. Then we got pregnant while still using the contraceptions. The next nine months were very difficult for us, but the Lord saw us through.

FWIW--I am extremely glad it worked out--we have two wonderful children--but I believe each couple must work with the information they have. We sincerely believed it would not be a Good Thing to get pregnant, and we were trying to be good stewards of that belief.

After your attempts to dictate to God that you do not want fertility right now, thank you, then you trust in God?

I find it good that you have learned from this that you can trust God. I hope you apply this lesson.
