Army Relieves General of His Command
August 8, 2005
On Aug. 8, the Chief of Staff of the Army directed the relief of Gen. Kevin P. Byrnes from his position as Commanding General, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. The investigation upon which this relief is based is undergoing further review to determine the appropriate final disposition of this matter.
As the investigation into this is continuing, please discourage speculation from your Soldiers. LTG Jones will be the acting commander until LTG Wallace is confirmed as the new TRADOC commander.
And you know this, how???????????
Rummy did a good job of deflecting the question. When the time is right the answers will come out.
Just as I thought, Rummy deflected the first question. That will be it for now but the nature of the General's misconduct will come out soon, I'm sure.
How'd you know what I was going to say? ;)
Looks like great minds post the same :-)
Have a great day.
We gotta quit doing this. Folks will start to gossip.
No doubt the general was sacked for his comparison of the Army to the Marine Corps.
I didn't realize, until I read that latest AP article, that Recruiting Command came under TRADOC. I just wonder if it has something to do with recruiting numbers? As in cooking the books?
> As in cooking the books?
You can inflate the number of potential recruits in the
funnel, but you can't fake the number who get off the
bus for BT. This is not likely a recruiting issue.
Not likely, recruiting is not in the mission of TraDoc.
Do you think AP's Robert Burns is wrong?
Recruiting Command's higher headquarters in the Accessions Command which in turn is a portion of TRADOC. We are in line to get the Accessions Command here at Ft Knox under BRAC.
Having been in the Army and spending a lot of time around officer land. Many of the Army's social functions are religious in nature, and officers are pretty much required to be involved in these social functions. Being an atheist in such a case can be awkward.
Even in Basic, at least when I went, those who wanted to go to church on Sunday could, while the rest would be assigned various duties, such as clean-up, etc. That right there gives favor to the Christian.
I was just roaming around Yahoo and never did find the difference between the Accessions Command and USAREC. So the two star at Recruiting Command comes under a three star at TRADOC?
From the TRADOC home page:
The U.S. Army Accessions Command (USAAC) was established by general order on 15 February 2002. It is a subordinate command of TRADOC charged with providing integrated command and control of the recruiting and initial military training for the Army's officer, warrant officer, and enlisted forces. Designed to meet the human resource needs of the Army from first handshake to first unit of assignment, the command transforms volunteers into soldiers and leaders for the Army.
No, but it could be related to not meeting training goals. I know the Army isn't pushing as many troops out of the various training pipelines as it would like to. TRADOC is HUGE and spread all over the world. Wallace, a man with extensive staff, training and combat experience, should be just the man to get it into shape.
He's a reporter, so you never know. :) But in this case I stand corrected. It's what I get for not checking the latest org chart.
I saw that and I believe I saw that a three star is in charge of it. Somewhere else I clicked on Recruiting Command and it took me to a site where they were trying to enlist me in the Army. I have to say that the TRADOC site appears to be a work in progress. But, if they are like many other offices around an undermanned Army, people are probably running around with their hair fire there also.
No harm. I thought you knew something different. SLB is near some of that stuff, so he's got the inside track.
Social Functions such as? Or are you just objecting to "Under God" in the pledge or a prayer at a social function. I can't imagine the ACLU would have allowed religious social functions. FWIW, I never even heard of any religious social functions when I was an Air Force officer.
