The man with the cane (14th photo down) crossed over from the hospital to FReep mainside of the street and talked with Albion Wilde, Christopher Lincoln and rackatoot. He is a Vietnam veteran who had also been seriously wounded and lives in Niagara Falls NY. He said that he comes down to Walter Reed for some personal care about twice a month and now spends a few days at a time with the new war wounded, maybe just a few of them on each visit. He gives them hope and courage but also tells them the reality of living with broken bodies. He told us that the wounded soldiers are fortunate to be treated like kings and queens right here and now, but once they go home to middle America, they may be quickly forgotten. He does his best to prepare them for that reality. We didn't get his name and he desired no attention to himself, saying that the current wounded deserve all of the attention and respect now. He said that the wounded patients notice and appreciate the positive FReeper support. He thanked us for being outside the hospital under all weather conditions. He asked us to be outside especially if the weather is poor, the soldiers will notice and remember that.
Thanks rackatoot for a great message, well put.
Did you want to be added to the DC Chapter ping list?
What BillF said, rackatoot!
Glad you could join us!
Jack.
It was an honor to meet you. Hope to see you again as we stand against the anti-American, commie traitors and FOR our awesome soldiers.
While the DC Chapter is trained to operate in all weather conditions, it never rains on the DC Chapter.
Great review, rackatoot!
