Illegal Immigration Costs Florida $4.3 Billion a Year, Report Says

(CNSNews.com) - A report by an immigration reform group shows that illegal immigration costs the state of Florida at least $4.3 billion a year in health care, education and incarceration costs.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) predicts the state's costs of illegal immigration will increase to nearly $8 billion a year within 10 years unless it is controlled.
"Average Floridians are being asked to pay dearly for the failure of the federal government to control illegal immigration, and for a small number of business interests in the state addicted to low-wage illegal alien labor," said Dan Stein, president of FAIR, in a statement.
"The $4.3 billion being spent on illegal immigrants and their families means those resources are not available to improve and upgrade Florida's woefully overcrowded schools and overburdened public hospitals," said Stein.
"Nor are those funds available for urgent infrastructure repairs needed as a result of the succession of devastating hurricanes that ravaged the state in the last several years," Stein added.
FAIR used Census and other data to estimate the size of Florida's illegal immigrant population to be 630,000, which is larger than the populations of Tampa and St. Petersburg combined.
The costs to Floridians, according to the report, is more than $4 billion a year in providing public education to the children of illegal immigrants, about $165 million a year in non-reimbursed costs for health care, and about $155 million a year to jail illegal aliens in county and state correctional facilities.
"In reality, low-wage illegal alien labor is prohibitively expensive, when the costs of vital public services are factored into the equation," Stein saidd. "Average Floridians are being forced to subsidize illegal immigration and the burden will increase rapidly unless federal, state and local governments begin working together to stem the massive influx."
1. We didn't abort over a million future productive Americans each year.
2. We didn't have "the pill"
3. We didn't postpone marriage until our forties
4. We worked more than 4.5 days a week
5. We didn't have competition from foreign auto makers, steel companies,...in formerly communist countries.
6. We didn't have young people refusing to take jobs unless they paid enough to support them in the same lifestyle which their parents had sacrificed all their lives to achieve.
But the fact is that we are greater today than ever and it is in part because of the contributions of immigrants. Would you like to return to the living standards of the 60s when TVs were 19 inches, a microwave was a luxury, and people only ate out at restaurants on special occasions?
No one is being hurt by ILLEGALS? Haven't read the news lately have you. Crime by ILLEGALS is growing every day in every state. People are tired of seeing these law breakers walking around with impunity defying our government. If the ones in power won't do something about it, then they will be changed. Count on it.
They are not doing the work because the pay is driven down by people like you. The business owners you expoit the slave labor coming acrossed our borders ILLEGALLY. You know it as well as the rest of us. Without them taking the jobs Americans, a lot of them summer jobs for students, would be doing the jobs, at a higher rate of pay. Yes, we might have to pay more for our products by right now the only ones benefitting from ILLEGALS are the business owners who use them, and the ILLEGALS themselves and of course the Mexican enconomy.
We are not greater today than ever. In the 50s and 60s, one parent worked, and the family was able to aford a house, a car , and all the other amentities that made life worth living. Saying that ILLEGALS are part of the reason our economy sucks today to the point where both husband and wife have to work to afford a house is not doing much for your arguments and everything for mine. ILLEGAL labor, driving wages down, has caused ALL wages to become lower but hasn't lowered prices in the least. Argue till your blue in the face but your arguments ring hollow. We will close the borders, it is just a matter of time. Get used to it.
Life was good back then. And Yes, I would.

He has total selected recall.
So would I.

Well, start by throwing away your computer.
Show me just one legitimate study by a reputable research or governmental institution such as OMB, CBP, CBO or DHS that shows how the border can be sealed. Don't even waste my time with childish talk of claymores and machine guns.
On Lou Dobbs's show this evening, they reported how many millions of dollars the government spends on mortgages for illegals. They use fradulent documents that are never checked and don't put anything down when they get their free money. What a racket for the Mexican-American realtors who make fat commissions off this scam. Illegals cost this country tens of billions when you tote up all the ways they rip us off.
Do you remember that the best thing that a person could have was a good name. People tried to be honest and and you could generally believe what you were told. We have come so far in technology and sunk so far down in the pits as far as morality goes. Traitors were not tolerated. The modern day lack of morals bothers me to no end.
I realize that there were a lot of things wrong back then. It is sad that the bad things existed. Still I would go in a New York Minute.
Illegals aren't the only ones who seek a "better life".
I was part of the generation who worked our butts off to get a TV bigger than our parents had. Saved up our money to buy it too. When my husband came back from VN, I plucked down $600 in cash (a months salary) for the biggest Color TV set I could buy as a "welcome home" gift to him.
We know what hard work and the rewards are all about.
But IF I had to toss out my computer to stop the flood of illegals into my country that my father, brother and husband fought for, I'd do it...in a heart beat.

Laws were respected. Yeah, I'd go back.

Is that yearly? Wow! Whose GDP? Mexico's?
So let's do the math: $800 Billion divided by let's say 11 Million illegals. My calculator comes up with $72,727.27 for each and every illegal. I guess they are the new middle class.
Now try dividing total GDP by total population and tell us what you get.
Back the boat up there a bit. You claimed the 800 Billion in the first place. Source??
