Thanks Ohio, apples and snugs.

I should have said (it is morning and I think better in the afternoons, but you are all asleep then!) that I did find a copy of A Charge To Keep here. I LOVED IT!! :) I also found The Faith of GWB in a Christian bookshop here

Looks like A Matter Of Character is a definate. Does anyone have a comment on whether I should get Karen's or Ari's book?

Thanks SO much for your help. I need to go to work, but will check in again later.

Your faraway friend.

I believe Wolfstar gave quite a full report of Ari's book not long ago, it might be worth sending her a FReep mail

Karen's book is WONDERFUL! I'm not done with Ari's book yet, but so far it's pretty good too.

Snugs, I just want to tell you Thank You for posting these wonderful pictures of our WONDERFUL President! Today has not been a good day at all and when I saw Mr. Bush in sunglasses...boy did that put a smile on my face.

God Bless President George and Laura Bush!! :-)

I personally liked Karen's book better. Ari's book was ok it just talked about the MSM which I don't particularly like.

I really enjoyed the following books:

A Matter of Character by Ronald Kessler
Standing Next to History by Joseph Petro (secret service agent to Bush I and Reagan)
We will Prevail by George W Bush

I just ordered but haven't read:

100 People who are screwing up American by Bernie Goldberg
Liberalism is a mental disorder by Michael Savage
The enemy within by Michael Savage.

Their is a new book coming out soon called George W. Bush, Portrait of a Leader, with an introduction by Karen Hughes.

I can't wait to get my hands on that one.

I'd also recommend "Fighting Back: The War on Terrorism--from Inside the Bush White House" by Bill Sammon. It's relative quick reading and it gives a very good play-by-play of 9/11 and the previous evening from the President's perspective. I really enjoyed reading it, but I lent it to my dad who never returns my books!

If it were up to me, I'd get Karen's book. Ari's was very dry, with few of the kinds of insights into GWB's presidency that I would like to have seen from him. Instead, his book was devoted to describing his relationship with the WH press corps. In my opinion, Ari seemed somewhat defensive about the fact that the relationship between the WH Press Secretary and the media is necessarily something of an adversarial one. In other words, Ari almost seemed to me to be apologetic about the job he had to do while working for the President. Explaining himself to the media seemed to be the rationale for his writing the book. The subtext seemed to be, "Please like me. I was only doing my job."

It isn't a memoir and, although some of the passages about 9/11 were fascinating, it isn't really even a particularly useful look at the historical record.

Others may see it differently, and others may not mind his very dry writing style. But on the whole, I thought the book was a bore and a disappointment.

Anything by Bill Sammon--he's the best, IMO. Also try David Frum's "The Right Man".

Both Karen's and Ari's books are a bit dull--Ari's more than Karen's.
