Planned Parenthood superhero terminates Christian protesters. Also drowns promoter of abstinence in animated video pushing 'safe is sexy' message.
An online animated video sponsored by Planned Parenthood's San Francisco-area branch features a superhero character drowning an abstinence promoter in a trash can and blasting into oblivion several pro-life picketers protesting in front of one of the organization's facilities. The eight-minute "Superhero for Choice," posted on the Planned Parenthood Golden Gate website, has a bespectacled black woman in San Francisco morphing into a red-suited flying enforcer, bent on making the world safe for the organization's values.
Viewers see three teenagers talking with an ugly green-faced man sporting a top hat and bow tie who tries to tell the kids abstinence is the only sure way to protect against sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancy. The teen girl rebuts the man, naming several birth-control methods.
Retorts the little green man: "Those are instruments from the devil's toolbox!" The superhero arrives in time to fill a trash can with water and dump the pro-abstinence character into it, slamming the cover down. After the man's muffled voice eventually dies off, the superhero tosses the teens a "safe sex kit," reminding the kids: "Safe is sexy!"
The "Superhero for Choice," dubbed Dianisis, next confronts a group of protesters in front of a Planned Parenthood facility. They, too, are ugly and have green faces, carrying signs that say, "Pray for thy sins." Religious protesters get blasted. The superhero character uses a "condom gun" that catches each protester in a prophylactic bubble, which subsequently explodes. Though she admits the protesters have a First Amendment right to picket, she glories in the fact that people can now visit the Planned Parenthood facility unimpeded.
The flying superhero then travels to Washington, D.C., where she puts a giant condom on the Washington Monument and confronts a Southern senator who is stricken with "misinformed conservatism." The woman's final stop is a village in Africa, where she talks to a doctor working to stem HIV/AIDS and to make sure "every child is a wanted child." The superhero remarks before leaving: "I have an appointment with the Rev. Jerry Falwell that schmuck."
Jim Sedlak, executive director of American Life League's STOPP International, decried the Planned Parenthood animated piece. "With its latest marketing gimmick Planned Parenthood is glamorizing violence against people of faith," Sedlak said in a statement. "The hatred and religious bigotry demonstrated by Planned Parenthood in this video are shocking and offensive."
Sedlak says the video could encourage people to act out the violence shown. "In this post-9/11 era of terrorism, Planned Parenthood has recklessly crossed the line by promoting violence against people who do not share the organization's radical beliefs," said Sedlak. "Planned Parenthood's actions are reprehensible, because there is no guarantee that someone viewing this video might not act on its suggestions and instigate violence against people of faith." Commented blogger Dawn Eden: "Now, I ask you, if the American Life League's website featured a cartoon depicting an ALL superhero blowing up nonviolent Planned Parenthood activists, would Planned Parenthood just shrug it off?
"I think we all know what would happen. There would be an uproar." American Life League wants heads to roll over the video. Said Sedlak: "American Life League demands that Planned Parenthood publicly reveal the names of all persons involved in the development and posting of this outrageous material and immediately dismiss all individuals involved from their positions as employees or volunteers. We also demand that Planned Parenthood issue a public apology without delay to pro-life Christians everywhere for inciting violence against them." While Planned Parenthood refers countless women for abortions across the nation, the word "abortion" is not mentioned in the film. Planned Parenthood Golden Gate is a consortium of eight clinics in the San Francisco Bay Area. Repeated calls to the organization's administrative offices were not returned by press time.
'A Superhero for Choice' confronts abstinence promoter.
Religious protesters get blasted.
And I thought the "Choice on Earth" Christmas cards were bad.
According to one myth, Dionysus is the son of the god Zeus and the mortal woman, Semele (daughter of Cadmus of Thebes). Semele is killed by Zeus' lightning bolts while Dionysus is still in her womb. Dionysus is rescued and undergoes a second birth from Zeus after developing in his thigh. Zeus then gives the infant to some nymphs to be raised. In another version, one with more explicit religious overtones, Dionysus, also referred to as Zagreus in this account, is the son of Zeus and Persephone, Queen of the Underworld. Hera gets the Titans to lure the infant with toys, and then they rip him to shreds eating everything but Zagreus' heart, which is saved by either Athena, Rhea, or Demeter. Zeus remakes his son from the heart and implants him in Semele who bears a new Dionysus Zagreus. Hence, as in the earlier account, Dionysus is called "twice born." The latter account formed a part of the Orphic religion's religious mythology.
It does seem clear that Dionysus, at least the Phrygian Dionysus, was a late arrival in the Greek world and in Greek mythology. He is hardly mentioned at all in the Homeric epics, and when he is it is with some hostility. A number of his stories are tales of how Dionysus moved into a city, was resisted, and then destroyed those who opposed him. The most famous account of this is that of Euripides in his play the Bacchae. He wrote this play while in the court of King Archelaus of Macedon, and nowhere do we see Dionysus more destructive and his worship more dangerous than in this play. Scholars have speculated not unreasonably that in Macedon Euripides discovered a more extreme form of the religion of Dionysus being practiced than the more civil, quiet forms in Athens.
Briefly, Dionysus returns to Thebes, his putative birthplace, where his cousin Pentheus is king. He has returned to punish the women of Thebes for denying that he was a god and born of a god. Pentheus is enraged at the worship of Dionysus and forbids it, but he cannot stop the women, including his mother Agave, or even the elder statesmen of the kingdom from swarming to the wilds to join the Maenads (a term given to women under the ecstatic spell of Dionysus) in worship. Dionysus lures Pentheus to the wilds where he is killed by the Maenads and then mutilated by Agave.
Superhero named Dianisis eh?
Seems they're not anti-religion, just anti-religions they think are pro-life.
Wonder what the goddesses Diana and Isis stand on the issue is?
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto [them that are] mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! 24 Therefore as the fire devoures the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, [so] their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
If I had the drawing talent, I'd be creating a cartoon in reply, showing Palpatine and Vader attacking a Planned Parenthood clinic. Palpatine would fry a liberal and say, "Be grateful I'm showing you more mercy than you show unborn children."
Regards, Ivan
Fascinating. Zeus kills Semele and Dionysus is saved and implanted into Zeus to complete his gestation. I wonder if the pro-abort crowd knows this story.
See 49.
As a matter of policy, Planned Parenthood is aiding and abetting sex offenders. This is the typical scenario. A girl calls PP about an abortion she wants to commit. She explains that she is underage and cannot drive. Planned Parenthood suggests she get a ride from her grownup boyfriend who impregnated her.
What is wrong with this picture, beside abortion? Sexual relation between the boyfriend and the underage girl are statutory rape. Planned Parenthood, like most agencies that advise youngsters are so-called mandated reporters, in most states. It means they are obligated by law to report incidence of rape. Including statutory rape. Instead they recommend the rape victim get in the car with the rapist and drive across state lines.
There is a sheriff who investigated this using actors impersonating the underage girls. This is not enough to sue. He is pulbicly calling Planned Parenthood a sex offender organization and is begging Planned Parenthood to sue him for slander. So far, silence from them.
Can't even come up with a coherent depiction of a protest message... "pray for thy sins" good grief?
Now let us suppose that Operation Rescue and suchlike returned the compliment in like media. Can you imagine how quick the FBI would be at their doorstep?
Disgusting, they are beyond evil.
Well said.
The culture war is in full swing. Time to fight harder.
