Gone, not forgotten: The Palestinian Authority claims the Gaza Strip will continue to be under Israeli occupation even after Israel pulls out of the area next week.

In a report presented to the United Nations, several foreign governments and international organizations, the PA foreign ministry calls on the international community to reject Israels claim that by withdrawing from Gaza, it would relinquish the legal responsibilities of being an occupying power.
They claim Israel will continue to bear legal and moral responsibility for the Strip, and that international treaties will still apply.
The Fourth Geneva Convention and Hague Regulations will continue to apply (to Israel), they said.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Nasser al-Kidwa said, Israel will continue to rule over Palestinian airspace and territorial waters, and will maintain partial control over border crossings.
Therefore, individual movement and our connections with the outside world will continue to be subject to Israeli authority, he said.
Al-Kidwa also called the IDF withdrawal a blow for Israeli colonialism, but said the move left the Palestinians short of full sovereignty.
Israel will continue to rule over significant parts of Palestinian life in Gaza, he said.
In preparation for the Israeli pullout, Palestinian officials are busy bolstering security forces.
Monday, PA police chief Ala Husseini announced the European Union has donated USD 20 million to the PA to facilitate the project.
Husseini said the Palestinian police have started wide-ranging reforms and said support and the reform program are crucial to facilitate the rebuilding of a security establishment that will be able to impose order and security throughout Palestinian society.
The rule of law will bring about one gun, centralized in Authority hands. Cultural pluralism will be established by elections, rather than force.

Obviously, it's just another convenient excuse not to be held accountable for the dastardly actions they are planning.
Isn't all of Israel proper 'occupied territory' by the dirty zionists. ALLLLAAHHH AKBAAAAAR!
These people are the most highly rewarded lying criminals on the planet.
So...Jews will be welcome?
Makes one wonder what, if anything, the pullout will accomplish. I'm with Netanyahu on this one.
Certainly... and if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn for you.
Who murdered 6,000,000+ Jews in WWII? Arabs? - Nope.
They are collaborators.
It will mean that you won't need more soldiers than settlers to protect tiny Jewish communities surrounded by 1.3 million hostile Arabs. It means if the IAF or IDF has to take action against terrorists they don't have to fear killing Jewish Israelis. It means that Arabs won't become a majority within our own borders at any time in the near future.
I'm with Sharon on this one :)
Israel will control Gaza's borders for the time bing in an effort to keep it from turning into a base for Jihad. Israel will try to keep out weaponry and foreign Jihadists. Other than that the Paleostinians are on their own and should prove to the world they can build something, not just rage against the Jews.
Obviously! Now they don't want indepedence because it comes with the price-tag of responsibility for acts of WAR!
Kill A Commie For Mommie
Seven Dead Monkeys Page O Tunes
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
Gaza will be a base for Jihad.
Anyone with a functioning brain should realize that.
Sharon is such a schmuck.
Why do you think the new fences are being built? Why aren't the Palestinians able to control their own borders or seas? To prevent just that.
The E.U. and probably the U.S. will demand that the Pals control their borders and have free sea access.
It's a matter of time.
The Egyptian border is porous.
Al Qaeda is probably already there.
LOL. Is carpet bombing of Gaza on the agenda?
How is Israel going to defend Jerusalem if the IDF can't fight terrorists for fear of killing Israelis?
You're with the majority of sane people.
