A bit quick for that. FoxNews reported that Volcker only recommended that Sevan lose his diplomatic immunity less than an hour ago (at least if the time-stamp on the appropriate thread is right).
Procedurally, you are exactly correct, but I think it's not a bad thing to ask the question as to whether those who are higher up are attempting to cut their losses by releasing lesser officials in the scandal.
It's possible that the thinking is that this would appease Bolton and provide some cover. "See, we are really committed as you are to cleaning up the UN. Now can we talk about more US money?"
:) Sometimes appeasement actually can work in the favor of the US.
Yes. So, how said FoxNews doesn't do investigative report?
And after all the pouting and shouting against the US, do these diplomats they really want to go home?
Answer- No
guess this guy didn't pass the "global test" .
It will be Benon Sevon
the Armenian from South Cyprus
which means he is just a fall guy
for Kofi Annan.
Will be let himself be?

Oil-for-Food Report Hits 2 Ex-U.N. Officials
NEW YORK One of the targets U.N. Oil-for Food investigation, Alexander Yakovlev (search), was stripped of his diplomatic immunity Monday and taken into custody by federal authorities, a U.N. spokesman announced Monday.
The U.S. attorney's office took Yakovlev into custody hours after Paul Volcker (search), the man in charge of the U.N.-approved probe into Oil-for-Food, fingered Yakovlev as one of two main U.N. officials involved in the program's corruption.
Yakovlev, a longtime U.N. procurement official who handled tens of millions of dollars worth of U.N. supply contracts annually, was accused in a report Monday of collecting nearly $1 million in kickbacks outside the Oil-for-Food (search) program.

FNC has been on this pretty consistently. I'm sure we will hear more tonight on Special Report.
This Russian had his son working for the UN also.....he was doing something funny with the books.
That last sentence cost you :-)
I knew my memory has correct..:-)
Hasn't failed me yet...:-)
Great tagline!
"Bolton in for less than a week and the good news is already starting."
Expect more of the same. Bolton is just getting warmed up -- trust me.
They love the seemingly bottomless pockets of we American taxpayers that pay for their high-life partying in NY, to want to leave it willingly...maybe we'll have to use the threat of arrest warrants to shut that shi$ hole down.
As I said on another thread, time for Benan Sevan to get lawyered up big time and start negotiations with Norm Coleman's office to deliver Kofi and Kojo in exchange for some immunity....
Senator Voinobitch is right now meeting with Christopher Dodd. Dodd is going to instruct the crybaby on how to respond to the news.
From your lips, to Gods ear.
